Taz: you mentioned earlier that you were the #1 contender in Canada for 4 years, but you couldn't get a title shot. Who was the champ at that time? Also, I am wondering why you took a bout against Peanuts Arsenault at a time when he had such a huge edge on you in experience? I noticed also that you once fought twice in one night-how did that situation come about?

Taz: I agree with you about Clyde Gray-he was an excellent fighter. I am wondering if you could tell me about Gray's fight against Lawrence Hafey for the Canadian Welterweight title. How well did Hafey fight that night and did he give Gray a tough bout?

Taz:I think Gray was past his prime when he fought the fights against Clarke. Al Ford was another top world class Canadian. Ford also fought Larry Hafey for a Canadian title, as you well know. How close was the Ford-Hafey bout-wasn't it a split decision?

Taz: I am not Kevin. I am a fan of Canadian fighters. Did Art and Larry Hafey ever spar together? I thought that Art Hafey was a great fighter, what a bodypuncher! Did you see him fight Jo Jo Jackson? Jo Jo had a bad record and I am curious about how he was able to hold Art Hafey to a draw.

Taz: Canada had some good smaller division fighters in the 60's and early 70's like: Billy McGrandle, Jackie Burke and Rocky MacDougal. What are your thoughts on those guys? Also, why did so many Nova Scotian fighters turn pro at such young ages-weren't you only about 15 when you went pro?

Taz: When you were fighting, did most of the fighters from New Glasgow train in the same gym or were there different gyms? I saw your record on this site and I was wondering if your trainer is related to former fighter Kid Sponangle? What about Les Gillis, what are your memories of him as a fighter? A friend of mine has your fight with Spinks on tape.

Taz: Is it true that in the early 70's fighters were only paid about $150.00 to box main events on P.E.I. ? Also, when Larry Hafey became Canadian Middleweight champ, did he give away a lot of weight in that bout-Larry Hafey was mainly a lightweight and welterweight. What ever became of Hafey, do you know?

taz: I thought that Gaetan Hart was one tough fighter-what is your opinion of him. He would fight anyone. Also, isn't it true that in the 60's and early 70's a lot of catchweight fights took place in Canada? For instance, Jackie Burke who was a bantamweight would fight featherweights very often and Clyde Gray at 147 would fight middleweights. Today's fighters don't want to give up weight.

Taz: You mentioned Eddie Melo's God given talent. Is talent the main factor in determining if a fighter will become world class? For instance, can a fighter who is not naturally fast or naturally hard-punching still develop word class skills ? I remember Fernand Marcotte-he didn't have a lot of talent but I thought that he developed into a very good fighter-what's your view of Marcotte?
