Fighting over 40 article on Boxrec News.

An interesting piece, just thought I could bring the attention a news segment I saw on youtube that explores contact sport athletes with lower testosterone levels - due to damage to the pituitary gland. There was a segment on Toney, and thats why physicians claim he finds it difficult to lose the weight.

James Toney has always been a gluttonous so an so, Stu. He cannot keep his fingers away from the buffet cart. Consume fewer calories than you expend and you'll lose weight. Snake oil physicians need to over-complicate things in order to keep making the mortgage payments on their ski chalets in Aspen.
Yeah I know, its just something I've done alot of studying about recently when delivering a 3rd year lecture on head injuries in sport..... Spent three hours discussing Dementia Pugilistica and talking about boxers - can think of worst ways to earn a living. I showed them segments from the recent ringside show aswell.

A lot of research about DP and the APOE 4 genetic variant - so getting bashed in the head only QUICKENS the onset on Dementia - chances are most boxers with DP were likely to get Alzehmeirs anyway.

But the stuff about Testosterone and head injuries was particularly interesting and makes perfect sense when you think about it. If you damage the Pituitary gland, then that will have massive changes in your hormone level with behavioural and physical consequences. The evidence is out there, via independent research - looking at contact sports and pituitary gland damage. This is the excuse James used for failing the drugs test vs Ruiz - he admits to using PED's but because he believes he has low levels of naturally producing testosterone, so doesn't feel he is at an advantage.

Certainly something that is food for thought though and needs to be considered.
