No plea?

Could anyone tell me what the legal reasoning would be for that?

Not an expert, but I think that he's considering the implications of either plea and will enter one at a later date.

Thanks Scott; there seems to be a lot of time lapsed between 'then and now'.

I had read that Hyde was a major headache but this is horrible.

The evidence must be pretty strong if he's been remanded to the 15th!In most rape accusation cases the person gets off on bail while the officer would look into it.

It's not usual to enter a plea this early in preceedings; The hearing today will have been solely for the Magistrates to decline jurisdiction due to the seriousness of the offence, and to send it to Crown Court.

I am afraid Lefty is probably correct about the amount of evidence as it is very difficult to get somone charged with rape, and equally there must be some degree of concern on behalf of the magistrates to remand him in custody. These concerns could be that he would fail to appear, would interfere with witnesses or commit offences whilst on bail.

Not too promising for Herbie on the face of it.

Well this might help explain why he's dropped off the radar recently. Also his previous 'form' for disappearing out of the country when legal troubles arise (his autobiography admits as much) might have played a part in him being remanded. Doesn't sound good tho.

Incidentally, I am a firm believer that naming people in the press before they have been found guilty is bang out of order and should be illegal.

This.

Mud sticks even if proven innocent.

Only thing which angers me more is anonymous witnesses.
