That David Haye victory is getting more and more impressive as Arthur's aging career continues. "King" Arthur has just won the NABF Cruiserweight title.

I appreciate his form since the Haye fight has been patchy (3-2) but that is a prestigious title to win, one in which he has failed to capture in two previous attempts. He could beat Haye to a world title shot.

Do these titles like the NABF etc carry a lot of brownie points for ranking purposes? And they're restricted to America obviously, but how do they compare to say, the various international/continental belts?

Another who will probably be getting a title shot very soon is Steve Cunningham. http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=036642 I think it's the WBC who have him #1, and he's got an IBF eliminator coming up. But if you look at his record, his opponents only stepped up a gear in 2002. He's had 7 fights in 3 years, and in all but one of these he's been taken the distance, with an SD and MD thrown in. And Rothman was stopped quite easily buy the cat wasn't he?

I havn't seen him, so feel a little nasty for dissing him. But have I really missed something with this guy? Haye could demolish him I reckon.

I think the NABF do carry some credit when it comes to the rankings, I like to look at the NABF and USBA as sort of the equivalent as British title back home, it does raise a profile and does raise your ranking a great deal.

Alot of ex champions like to comeback and win one of these champions, Sharmba Mitchell last week is one, it is more respectable than the international belts and I would say carries a similar ranking raise to them. Alot of these champions are in the top ten.

I do believe Cunnigham's rather lucky win over Jones was for some kind of eliminator, Jones's 4 round KO over Kelvin Davis is pretty impressive so that makes Cunnigham's shot more creditable - also was there a touch of sarcasm when you said Rothman was blown away pretty easily by Thompson?

So I don't think its at all bad that Cunnigham gets a shot.

Yes, Jones was 6 foot 4 and fighting at Light Middle, remember the Johnny Nelson fight - if anything Jones was taller than Nelson. Jones has been found guilty of taking diuretics as a Cruiserweight, so who knows when he first started taking them.

Was a fantastic fight tho. The Cat is a legend for coming back after getting dropped however many times it was and stopping Silk Cut.

i taped it for my brther i remember, then accidently taped over it with more boxing, it got to the latter rounds and cut off on the video.

my bro asked what happened and i said "oh no mate, thats the best punch youve never seen"

Referee Richie davis was about 5 seconds from stopping the fight in Rothmann's favour, I can only guess you didn't see the fight if you made a statement like that. Carl was down early, and was getting knocked all over the ring for much of the fight, although on second viewing, he looks better than when I saw it live.
