Hi,
On January 27, 1981, you have the three following fights that took place in Montreal, QC:
. Ralph Hollett W Eddie Melo TKO 5 12
. Mario Cusson W Lawrence Hafey PTS 10 10
. Bob Harvey W Joe (Popeye) Balerino KO 6 0
Two more fights have to be added to this list:
. Allen Clarke W Ghyslain Deroy PTS 10 10
. Brian Anderson W Stacey Dowe PTS 4 4
The four boxers involved in these fights are already in the database:
. Allen Clarke is from Halifax, NS.
. Ghyslain Deroy is from Montreal, QC.
. Brian Anderson is from Montreal, QC.
. Stacey Dowe lost the only other fight he had.
Could you please make the appropriate changes and update the boxers' records accordingly...
Thanks.
U-Boy.

Hello Ric,
Here's the whole story:
A few months ago, I remembered having seen on TV (many years ago!) a fight between Allen Clarke and Ghyslain Deroy. In this fight, Clarke was so confident that he even kissed once Deroy on the forehead!
When I noticed this fight was not on BoxRec, I tried to find someone who could confirm I didn't dream. I finally found Michel Gladu. Michel is an expert in Canadian boxing. He even wrote a book on the subject and is currently writing a second one. He also told me he has been working with BoxRec for a while. Do you know him? Should I find his BoxRec nickname?
Anyway, here's a part of the note Michel sent me. It's in french:
--Je te laisse voir la carte au complet du combat Clarke-Deroy:
--27 janvier 1981 - Montréal
--
--Ralph Hollett Gagne TKO. 5 Eddie Melo
--Allen Clarke Gagne Pts 10 Ghislain Deroy
--Mario Cusson Gagne Pts 10 Lawrence Hafey
--Brian Anderson Gagne Pts 4 Stacey Dowe
--Bob Harvey Gagne TKO. 5 Joe Ballerina
In the note, Michel mentions that Bob Harvey beat Joe Bellerina in 5 rounds. BoxRec said it was in 6 rounds. Do you want to update this too?
Unfortunately, I don't know where this boxing card took place. I only know it was in Montreal. If you wish, I could find out.
Regards,
U-Boy.

Hey guys, I did my research today. I went to the library and looked at the old newspaper and found lots of info on the bouts held in Montreal au Centre Paul-Sauvé on January 27th 1981. I updated everything I had in the boxrec database.
By the way, both newspaper (La Presse and Le Journal de Montreal) had Bob Harver winning via TKO at 1:49 of the 6th round against Joe Balerino. So it stays like this in the boxrec database.
Thanks again for the tip U-Boy!
Phil

Thanks very much, Phil and Ric. That was fast !
Next time I have a "flash" about an old fight, I will do what Phil did: I will go in a library and fax you everything I find on the fight. I have to admit I didn't think about doing it this time...
