The new formatting for the titles is extremely ugly though.

As far as I can see.

Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
I'm still waiting for them to make the "world X title" clickable.
Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
I don't think it can be made clickable as that title is entered manually.orbtastic wrote:I'm still waiting for them to make the "world X title" clickable.

In "Boxing Ratings", where you can search for ratings for individual countries as well as other groupings like Europe/Latin America/Commonwealth etc. You should be able to search for ratings for Asia and also for Africa.
Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Europe and Commonwealth are defined areas with a title... Is there an all-Africa title?pugilisticspecialist wrote:In "Boxing Ratings", where you can search for ratings for individual countries as well as other groupings like Europe/Latin America/Commonwealth etc. You should be able to search for ratings for Asia and also for Africa.
Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
I don't know what kind of a reputation it has, but there's an 'African Boxing Union' title: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=GoMatthewS wrote:Europe and Commonwealth are defined areas with a title... Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Couldn't find a homepage for the ABU so no idea if they have rankings.
Interestingly, look at this page on the EBU...

African Boxing Union: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
African Boxing Union female: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
IBF Continental Africa: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
International Boxing Organization All-Africa: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
WBA Pan African: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
WBO Africa: http://boxrec.com/title_search.php?titl ... &SUBMIT=Go
Granted, some of them are more legitimate than others, but the likes of Kaizer Mabuza, Paulus Moses, Ossie Duran, Isaac Chilemba, Thomas Oosthuizen and Vusi Malinga have all competed for these titles in recent years, which must lend them some credence.
I definitely think that being able to search for ratings for Africa would be a great addition to the website.
Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Extra info regarding where the height/reach of a fighter was ascertained from. This way, legit figures (Showtime) aren't erased for likely less accurate ones (HBO/Hearsay).

Good suggestion. Useful, but also easy to implement from a design and programming perspective.JCS wrote:Extra info regarding where the height/reach of a fighter was ascertained from. This way, legit figures (Showtime) aren't erased for likely less accurate ones (HBO/Hearsay).

Date, Age, Weight, Record, Opponent, Ops Age, Ops Weight, Ops Record, Last 6, Location, Televised (Network), Outcome
and I am still wondering why Ring Magazine is not recognized and why the WBC Silver and all these SUPER DUPER titles are... Shame.

Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Well Ring Magazine is just an honorary title and they don't have the cleanest of reputations either http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ring_% ... 29#Scandal if we were to put in media recognition then would we have to put in higher reputation publications like Boxing Monthly and Boxing News before the Ring ?Garcia2603 wrote:Date, Age, Weight, Record, Opponent, Ops Age, Ops Weight, Ops Record, Last 6, Location, Televised (Network), Outcome

Wow, 1976 and 1977.... It's a whole new beast now. And there championship policy is legit. These alphabet nuts are ruining my beloved sport. And the two main networks agree with it's legitimacy, HBO and Showtime (I doubt if the heads of the networks would disagree they wouldn't let there commintaters blast the alphabet soup so much)John wrote:Well Ring Magazine is just an honorary title and they don't have the cleanest of reputations either http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ring_% ...

Ring is number one. Besides most other rankings go off the ring anyway

And you know that how ?Garcia2603 wrote:Wow, 1976 and 1977.... It's a whole new beast now.
Hmmm, back in 1976 it was corrupted to suit USA broadcasters and today USA broadcasters are pushing it again, doesn't that ring alarm bells with you ?Garcia2603 wrote:And the two main networks agree with it's legitimacy, HBO and Showtime (I doubt if the heads of the networks would disagree they wouldn't let there commintaters blast the alphabet soup so much)
Nonsense, the Ring is owned by a U.S. promoter and most of it's ratings panel are in the US, you really think they are number one !!Garcia2603 wrote:Ring is number one. Besides most other rankings go off the ring anyway
Now let's take for example the WBC, it is made up of reputable boxing commissions from around the World such as the BBBofC who have a fair voting system and a rating panel made up from many nationalities. Please explain to me why an open democratic body like the WBC is worse than a private, closed, promoter owned company like the Ring. In case you are wondering I've been to a WBC convention and seen with my own eyes how they do things.

Either way... WBC is trash, making Alvarez a champion and Chavez Jr a mandatory... Stripping Martinez!
It's a money thing... And ring don't charge sanctioning fees.
Now I am sorry the Ring is not Owned by the UK.... But let's face it, all the best fighters fight here... In The United States of America. including UK's own Hatton Brothers, Joe Calzaghe, Amir Khan and Lennox Lewis to name a few of the past decade.

Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
By the way, I dont mean to get it in with you pal.
its just a friendly discussion. if I say something that offends you, I do apologize.
but your not changing my mind about the WBC & WBA... just how I feel.
but we do have Hope! IBF... at least to my knowledge... has not yet created a SUPER, Silver, GOLD, RUBY, or International Super Bowl/World Cup Interim Title... so they are still on my good graces.

Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Any chance of a quick way to identify the common opponents two boxers share? i.e by the same Boxer ID appearing in both records?
