it was meant tongue in cheek Davey boy...i agree we need the pros on here....those who can handle criticism unlike SmiggaDaveBoyMorrison wrote:Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Dont upset him he might do a houdini like his brotherDaveBoyMorrison wrote:I thought Simpson won the first fight and has been robbd in most of his losses. I also saw it as a bad performance from John as I think he well has the beating of smith. I hope Simmo stops him this time. If he is on form like he was against Lyndsey he should do it.
Hope you don't do as much holding this time Swifty.![]()
That's certainly not my intention, this forum would be much poorer if the pros did not get involved.

Re: Simpson and IBF
could be if Simpson looks to have won well
its in Liverpool isnt it , Expect the 2 close judges cards and the customery wide one from the 3rd Judge
should be good fight though Simpson boxed superb against Lyndsey and Smith seems to be hot prospect
i find the midweek fights seem to be better too , almost that European night at football type thing .

would anyone disagree that neither swifty nor Simpson were at their best in the first fight? I didn't think they were.
I think the second one will be better, good luck to both men

Hi Liam, i know Stephen is a very very good fighter and ive told him so but i do believe that if both bring there A game unlike the first fight which so many thought John won there will only be one winner SIMMO!.totally diffrent fighter to the one that fought Stephen 1st time honestly.liamsmith88 wrote:billy, if i remember rightly, u stated in a diffrent topic before christmas, john will beat linsey an so will stephen, an ill will say this, not many boxers in britain have a boxing brain like stephen smith, an alot ov boxers who no him will agree. like we sed be4 the 1st fight, we will say it, an here it once again, AND THE NEWWWW.....

You'll all be surprised - it'll be glorious.
Keep both hands in shape Ste or this comment will get dragged back up.

Re: Simpson and IBF
that doesnt bother me at all tommy, as long as they r wat u say, a good boxing family. over 20 national titles between us in the amatures, name any1 like us?
ye billy, but if u expect a stephen smith from the 1st fight, ur in for a big shock mate. i no they both wernt the best the first fight, stephen being his first live fight, first title fight, first 12 round fight, snapped his tendon in the fourth round.. what is johns excuse, he had been ther an done all them things before?

Re: Simpson and IBF
You brought back memories; I sparred Dean and ducked out of sparring Peter; did you ever spar John Irwin or Carl Tilley? I used to work for Mr Snipe at Swinton Car Hire; he was a very tough man, there were a couple of lads out back who used to box unlicensed and he thought the world of Mark Epton.SOUTHPAW wrote:Neck..then i put him down and the ref..Mr Roy Snipe just told him to get up...lol....he was past his best...didnt think he was that strong..i thought Dean Bramhall was strongersimon fox wrote:Oh he knew all the tricksSOUTHPAW wrote: PETER GABBITUS.............Got robbed blind against him.....He bit me too...; he was a splendid boxer 10 years before you boxed him Chris. Re: Simpson and IBF
Not to be funny Liam but John Simpson never makes any sort of excuse or encourages anyone to put one forward for him. He's said before that he's been disappointed with judges results etc but he is a fantastic professional and has a lot of attributes that go pretty much unnoticed. He may not have a text boxing style but he is very good at imposing his style and tempo. Smith is a good boxer and has great potential but he was lucky to get the verdict first time around IMO and I imagine John will be really up for revenge. Mid week, great bout between 2 top class boxers; makes me very happyliamsmith88 wrote:that doesnt bother me at all tommy, as long as they r wat u say, a good boxing family. over 20 national titles between us in the amatures, name any1 like us?

Smith comes across well on here and i know id have definately came across worse if it was me who was the point of discussion. Credit for keeping the head and just chatting away.
But.... As a scotsman i wanna see Simpson do the business.
Could argue a case for either fighter winning this one tho.
Looking forward to it, good luck to both fighters

Re: Simpson and IBF
I'm not that sure about that. Stephen Smith keeps an even temper and allows for differences of opinion; he doesn't blow his top and is not a nob. From what I've seen that's pretty much the only bone of contention with anyone. I couldn't imagine you getting the worst of it on principle.Emmseegee wrote:Smith comes across well on here and i know id have definately came across worse if it was me who was the point of discussion. Re: Simpson and IBF
Thanks for the compliments. Boxing is a very opinionated sport, so I dont think there's any point in biting really, everyone will always have a difference in opinion when it comes to fights, none more so than a rematch of a very close fight last time so I dont blame peoples opinions being divided. Boxers will always have fans and everyone will differ over who they want to win. Comes with the territory I suppose.Emmseegee wrote:Smith comes across well on here and i know id have definately came across worse if it was me who was the point of discussion. Re: Simpson and IBF
Apologys to Liam Smith....I must stay of the internet whilst under the influence.....
Re: Simpson and IBF
I've not been on here as long as most and loads know lots more than me. There are some class boxers, ex boxers and people close to the sport who post on here and they bite back at the ordinary 'Working Joe' fan; others don't and come out of any thread discussion with more respect than they went in with (IMO). I don't think that a boxer has to be a top class operator to come across in a classy way; there are journeyman boxers who really put themselves across as really class, in their manners and tact.

Simon, coudnt agree more mate, but it doesn't help when u have godshites Tommygunn throwing his stupid digs In trying to make us bite.
Re: Simpson and IBF
I really don't think he's done it malicious Liam; just banter (I think that banter online goes further than it would face to face to be honest). I've seen loads of Tommys' posts and he's not a nasty troller, (he's aplogised). When are you next out?
Re: Simpson and IBF
To be honest; because you are a close family, one sticks up for the other. If someone has a point to pick with someone they can't 'get hold of' then they'll 'get to' another. I think the thing is that (generally) we miss Pauls' stuff and more than a few really miss arguing with him. You've got to admit; right or wrong; Paul smith will hold his own in an argument. People miss that cut and thrust.liamsmith88 wrote:Simon, coudnt agree more mate, but it doesn't help when u have godshites Tommygunn throwing his stupid digs In trying to make us bite.
