Sonny Bill Williams 5th June.

Post by Craig14 »

Sonny Bill Williams is finally fighting in Auckland on 5th June, against an unamed opponent according to the N.Z Herald - He's donating $100,000 to the christchurch earthquake fund. Hopefully after the world cup he'll retire from rugby and concentrate on Boxing full-time, being a pom I'd like him to retire before the world cup.

Noble that Dunny Bill is donating $100k but please take on someone with a pulse this time.

There is a certain Ben Edwards, who has currently only had three fights, the same as Dunny, so Ben would be a suitable opponent, wouldn't he?

Pigs bum!

He's only donating a percentage of his purse - quite a high one but he's certainly still making out of it.

Are you blokes for real Sonny Bill is going to give 100grand to a worthy cause and still gets bagged. I personally don't give a f... who he fights if is doing it for a worthy cause. For the brain dead to suggest he fight Ben Edwards "are you for real' yes Ben has only 4 pro fights under his belt but how many kick boxing 20, 30 ? and how many titles to his name,? Whats Sonny had 3 or 4 fights how many of you brave trainers would let a fighter of theirs fight under the same circumstances, not many I'd hope but then again....... Why not have him fight Tua that would be a good one or maybe Hayes or the Klishko Bros. What other fighter donates to a good cause except maybe Green to Hyder. PS if Sonny Bill had the same experience as Ben I have no doubt he would stop him , Ben needs to leasrn to keep his chin down as his power won't do him any good when he gets hit by someone who also has plenty of power and can fight, he is to quote collin russells description of ALL fighters ,one dymentional

well if he is so charitable why not save boxing the trouble of dragging it through the mud and write out a cheque for 100K- problem solved and this bull shit of making earthquake victims misery as a cover to make PPV cash, 100 K will be small change. Please, for the sake of boxing these circus bouts need to end

Agreed! like him or not, he's an elite athlete. Not quite the boxer YET but give him time, and Im sure he'll develop if he decides to take it seriously . If you Knew what his PPV sales in NZ were for his last fight against Scott Lewis, 100k would be petty change...dont forget his 500k+ a year with NZRU

you have a point harry, giving to charity is great. but as rogue said - y should boxing be dragged thru the mud in the process?
i mean yea it awseome wat hes doing in respect to charity, but y should he make ppl pay for the privelige? if we wanted to donate to charity we would do it without paying for something that isnt wat it should be right?
everyone is entitled to pay for war they like i realise, but to say that its ok to put on a PPV boxing card that is nothing more than a circus act because some of the proceeds are going to charity is BS. nothing SBW has done in the ring is PPV worthy.
Who on this forum would pay $30-$50 to see a mediocre card headlined by a name, when you can see much better on friday night fights for free?
not me.
it hurts the sport.
