I wonder what the reasons were for Kells transfer, did Frank not put much of a fight up as Kells not a BIG ticket seller? or has Matchroom made Kell an offer he couldn't refuse?
the latter mate
That's the one I was hoping for. As you say lets hope this is the start of exciting times for the Kell/Matchroom partnership, it's a Great addition to Hearns stable

Kell needs to have a fight in Sheffield the European title would be good. His last fight was a joke.

BUT I can see how Kell might have been getting frustrated as he is often quite far down the undercards, Frank seems to put much more attention these days on his olympic hopefuls. This has often disappointed me as I see Brook as potentially the most exciting of the lot.

Given the right press, the right publicity and the right fights I think Brook could definitely become a good ticket seller. Comparing him to Witter is nuts, cos Witter was awful to watch. Brook is a decent watch most times and brilliant when on-form.

I think for the world title shots he might have been better sticking with Frank, but I duno, there has always been something not quite right to me looking at that relationship from the outside. It's as if Frank just isn't prepared to really put his trust in Kell and give him the big promotional push he needs to make some bigger waves.

Whatever you say about Matchroom, they have made 2 cracking signings recently in Barker and Brook, they are clearly puting a bit more money into it and who's to say they won't build a decent stable up. You still can't see them lining up the opportunities like Warren would. But what's better?

- Main man for a potentially very decent, once very-decent promoter who might be ready to make some new waves.

or

- Quite far down the pecking order for the main promoter, potentially get the title fights but potentially have long spells of inactivity and be down on the undercard of bills.
Alternative might have been a promotional company with a good working relationship with one of the biggest promotional companies in the states and with the biggest British star around Brook's devision.

also i wonder whether the Hattons having a 'rival' british welterweight who already holds a belt that Kell wants (the European) might have come into considerations?

Name me a promotional company that hasn't had a bill fall apart - name me one that hasn't had in the last 2 years even.

They have the closest relationship with GBP and are delivering world title fights - albeit away from home for their fighters.

Matchroom could become a real leading force. The main thing they do well is promote they get massive attention for a fight which no one apart from Hayemaker does

Kell would probably have been gone a long time ago if he werent under contract. It cant have helped having to move from Coldwell and still being close to Rhodes during all his problems. He really didnt get the big push his talent undoubtedly deserves.FW seems big on loyalty, look at the chances he has got Clev for sticking with him and i would imagine he really doesnt like working with a good few on the Sheffield boxing scene.

No,but FW has had him headlining elsewhere knowing full well other boxers would be selling the majority of the tickets,DeGale-Groves being a prime example.I rate Nathan but no more than i do Brook who has had a lot less exposure.

Pretty close I would say - two world title fights in the last two months working together another one scheduled in July. GBP chose Hatton to promote Khan, even though the main event doesn't involve a Hatton fighter - plus they had an excellent working relationship when Ricky was boxing.

Not the big events he werent. We will have to disagree,i think Clev has been given a lot of breaks whereas Kell simply has not.Why not stick him on at The O2 for a vacant title and let DeGale-Groves shift all the tickets? He is certainly as capable of winning one as Nathan is of beating Braehmer.
