Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
If you are Amir Khan's manager who would you have him fight over the next year and a half (until 1st January 2013).
So far we have, in regards to world title fights:
18th July 2009: vs Andriy Kotelnik - W UD
05th Dec 2009: vs Dmitriy Salita - W TKO 1
15th May 2010: vs Paulie Malignaggi - W TKO 11
11th Dec 2010: vs Marcos Maidana - W UD
16th April 2011: vs Paul McCloskey - ???
Who would you have Amir fight?

first of all it's KHAN, not KAHN, he didnt use to play in goal for Bayern Munich :x
Second of all, I hope the money grabbing bastard and his shite team get what they deserce when Bradley knocks him out in America on July 23rd.

Re: Amir Kahn: Plan his next 18 months
For me he's reaching that point where in a couple more fights there is going to be no one to look at besides Pacquiao & Mayweather. I mean there are always opponants out there, but you have to look at the path different fighters are on.
I would assume Bradley will be up next if he beats McCloskey, but after that I'm not sure what he will do.

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
Here is my route for Amir... First off I would make him more active, he's a young mam, a great athlete and he should be fighting more than twice a year, so I'd bump it up to 3 fights a year.
And with that...
1st week Aug: vs Timothy Bradley - WBC, WBA, WBO titles
1st week Dec: vs Devon Alexander - WBC, WBA, WBO titles
4th week Mar: vs Zab Judah - WBC, WBA, WBO IBF titles
3rd week July: vs Breidis Prescott - UNDISPUTED title
2nd week Nov: vs Lamont Peterson - UNDISPUTED title
The Bradley fight will be the big one for him. If he wins he will hold 3 of the world titles and will become the number one in the rankings.
After that I would like to see him fight Alexander. Though Devon lost to Bradley he's still a top contender in the division... And I'd like to see Khan clean up the division before moving up in weight.
After that, I'd go for Judah. Due to 2 reasons... Zab Judah is a HUGE name and he's holds the other title. I think this will be an easy fight for Khan (Bradley and Alexander will give him more trouble). And it will make him the undsiputed champion.
After holding all the titles, I would get Khan in against Prescott just to avenge the loss... And after defending his titles it would be the ultimate vindication for him.
By beating Americans, you grab the interest of the American public... And beating Peterson would be another jolt to Khan's name.
HAZARD: The reason I would have Amir stay at Light Welter is because it's easier to move up in weight but moving down in weight can be a body-killer for your physique.
Ask Ricky Hatton about that...
Khan could maybe fight Robert Guerrero at Light Welter or even JMM Marquez. But I'd reccomend that he beats the top contenders at his weight.

I've just noticed I do that.

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
I like to see fighters avenge their losses as much as anyone else but in certain scenarios it's inappropriate. Prescott had his chances off the back of that win and he's blown them. No fooking way should it get him a shot at an undisputed title. Not even sure it would be justified for Khan's WBA belt right now.Crease wrote:3rd week July: vs Breidis Prescott - UNDISPUTED title

Prescott would lose convincingly and Khan would get all the plaudits.J-C wrote:I like to see fighters avenge their losses as much as anyone else but in certain scenarios it's inappropriate. Prescott had his chances off the back of that win and he's blown them.

I can't see him going back Light Middleweight either.

I agree. The Dark Destroyer wrote:Fair enough. Unifying all four would be great for his career. Judah is still a tough fight for Khan though IMO.
Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
I don't think Prescott will ever be entitled to fight for a 'undisputed' title. The only way Khan should ever fight him again would be for a voluntary defence in between big fights, like the McCloskey one.
A rematch with Maidana could be somewhere down the line but I think Khan would win that handily this time. I also think after Saturday night that a Morales fight is a possibility. I wouldn't encourage that, but I wouldn't be surprised given the nature of the business.
August 2011 - Bradley
December 2011 - Morales
April 2012 - Judah
August 2012 - Prescott
December 2012 - Maidana
April 2013 - Move up in weight

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
Mayweather in 2013? Doubtful on current form..
Floyd should have one more fight and retire. His heart is not in it, look at how inactive he's been, even without his antics/court cases outside of the ring.
Khan should fight Bradley after McCloskey, then Alexander, maybe Judah, and if Brook is still undefeated and has fought some live opponents in the next 18 months he should be in the mix too.
I think Khan v Mayweather would be a terrific fight, with Mayweather winning it, but sadly i doubt it will ever happen, and Pacquaio vs Khan is also unlikely as they're pals and there's the Roach issue.

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
If I was his manager and could get him that fight at the start of 2013 then I'd go for it. With Mayweather's inactivity and the fact that he'd be nearly 36 by then, I think Khan would have a decent chance. Chances of being able to put that fight together are slim but it would be worth aiming for. It'd be a massive payday, win or lose and Khan isn't undeafeated anyway and could probably come back from defeat, a much richer man.
Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
If I was planning Khan's next 18 months I would suggest one thing and one thing only:
Go back and sign with Fra nk Warren. When Khan was with Warren he was on ITV or SKY PPV and selling out arena's and earning bundles.
Now he is on er... Primetime.
Khan should train and fight, let Warren do the rest.

Well, for me, Khan MUST beat Prescott before the memory of that defeat is erased. The reason he hasn't fought Prescott is a matter for debate. My guess would be that some of Khan's handlers don't want to take the risk.J-C wrote:I like to see fighters avenge their losses as much as anyone else but in certain scenarios it's inappropriate. I just think, assuming Khan gets past McClosky and then beats Bradley, can we really have Prescott getting a shot at the WBA/WBC/WBO/Ring (probably) belts having lost two of his last four and only having beaten two journeymen at 140? It just doesn't seem right to me, but much stranger things have happened in boxing
Now, if Khan was to lose to McClosky or Bradley then I'm all for a Prescott rematch.

Re: Amir Khan: Plan his next 18 months
I don't think Mayweather will fight again. As mentioned above, his heart isn't in it anymore and he's got other things to worry about such as staying out of prison. He's been a pretender for a while anyway, good riddance.
As for Khan's next 18 months, it's difficult to predict which direction he'll go. Assuming he gets past McCloskey (which I think is dangerous) - it'll be Bradley next.
Judah and Marquez are tentatively slated for July 30 in Vegas..... a fight that I have Marquez winning. That would be an ideal fight for the Khan/Bradley winner either just before Christmas this year or early next - subject to JMM not getting the 3rd Pacquiao fight (one I'm desperate to see).
I certainly don't see Khan facing Morales or Alexander in the near future (at all in Erik's case) - and have no interest what so ever in Prescott, given that he was whipped badly by a domestic/Euro 130lb'er in Mitchell.... who was subsequently KTFO by Katsidis, who whilst very entertaining and a great bloke, is barely world class himself.
Avenging losses is all well and good, but the fight has to be relevant at the time - Hopkins/Jones II wasn't relevant, Lewis/McCall was, just about. Prescott was always going to come unstuck..... no point at all now.
I wouldn't be so fussed for the belts either, the IBF will only throw in some crap Saffie who's beaten nobody, and we are discounting Khan's possible inability to make 140 from next year onwards too.

No point at all....... The point is that Styles Make Fights and Prescott had the style to knock Khan out and given the opportunity, he may well do it again. Regardless of who Prescott has lost too since.LeedsLad wrote:I don't think Mayweather will fight again.
