Golden Boy put on a great show in Vegas last night.

Post by Final round »

Well done to Golden Boy what an excellent series of well matched bouts.
I've gradually watched the card throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed every fight.
Guerrero was a revelation, Morales an inspiration.
That is how you put together a night of boxing.
Thanks to Sky for picking that one up, the best in a while.

I Sky+ this and watched the card this morning over a pot of coffee and it was brilliant.

The main event was an action packed fight and I thought Morales deserved at least a draw.

Katsidis v Guerro was a thrilling fight and again Katsidis should what a warrior he is.

Kirkland shock first round KO and Pauli in a good fight with Cotto. Brilliant card, the best I have watched in a long time.

I know Gasman it was ace, Katsidis always brings it and is tough as hell. Was surprised at Kirkland. Malignaggi boxed bloody well with his bad hand.Morales was fornicating amazing considering. He had one eye for the 12 rounds.

Katsidis friggin screamed "What are you looking at" at Guerrero during the refs orders.
His unspoken answer to that question was your face before it gets beaten to a swollen bloody pulp

Was a good bill. Paulie Magic man looked like he was going to have a long night after the first round but he came out and boxed the way we all know he can box. Quick one two and going down to work Cottos body.

Kirkland just couldn't recover from that left hook that put him down early. That guys record didn't seem to indacate that he was a puncher. Kirkland didn't know what to do when u was hurt, he should have held on.

Katsidis is one of my favorite boxers but last night he really got a bit of a tanking. He couldn't find a way past Gurerros southpaw jab. His head was snapping back 5/6 times every round. He found sucess in the 8th with the body shots, then the referee jumped in. But well done to Gurerro.

The main event was cracking, I thought Maidana would have El TErrible out of there in 6 rounds but all credit goes to Morales for boxing the way he did. I scored the fight a draw but I don't think you could really argue if it went either way

Cracking night of boxing and hats of to G/olden Boy

Sky+ it as well. Cracking fun. Interesting to see Kirkland do a "Jacobs". OK, Morales surprising nearly everyone really topped it off. De La Hoya tweeted that they will do cards of this ilk for all PPV in future. We'll see.....

If it is the shape of things to come, hope Sky and GBP don't fall out over Khan

Yep - almost exactly the same amount in pounds that we were originally going to be charged to watch Khan McCloskey from our living rooms!!!!!!

It was a great night of action! To be fair to Golden Boy most of their shows have solid undercards with many even, exciting fights!

The ref was awful, didnt score the KD then gave an immediate point deduction with no formal warning to be seen. Loved the way Katsidis kept plugging away at Guerreo's body even after the point deductions.

Watched it on Sky plus and was a great card. One thing that frustrated me however was the low-key ring entrances.

Maybe I'm used to all the lights going out and laser shows etc.

Agreed 100%. Can't stand GBP but credit where credit's due, that card was awesome. Let's hope they produce more of that quality.

According to Oscar's Twitter feed this is going to be the benchmark for all GBP PPV's going forward.

It was a terrific show, like most I watched the sky+ next day - fast forwarded through tippy tappy Paulie M, then was amazed to watch The Ghost Guerrero take it to Katsidis like he did in the first - he was just punch perfect and looked like a man on a mission - and massive credit to Katsidis to hanging in there like he did, but the punishment he takes leaves you really hoping his corner look out for him in the next few years.

The James Kirkland KO 1 was eye popping too - though Jim was wrong to say it's the first time his chin was tested: he almost came a cropper a few years back in a wild one round shoot out that had everyone talking.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP1ugoEW3kk

He's a lot like Nigel Benn in his rock em sock em style.

And what can you say about the amazing Eric Morales ? Going like that for 12 rounds, and one eye closed, I just wish they'd given him that decision - he fully deserved it.

Tris Dixon was excellent, they should have him back definitely. Even Johnny Nelson improved as a result.

They only there in name. I am surprised they did not provide some of the undercard though. Last Saturday was a great show.

Wasn't this promoted (in part, at least) by Morales?
