Mark Lloyd

Post by stujones »

Seems like Mark Lloyd has landed himself a shock go at the EU Welter title in Italy next weekend. He's fighting Luciano Abis who I think has been on Eurosport once or twice - he isn't bad but been found out at European level.

Probably a step to far for Lloyd out in Italy, but the EU belt is actually a good stepping stone for European honours. This was a title that Craig Watson lost out on a few years ago.

I wish him all the best.

Thats a joke , Kevin Mcintyre was meant to fight Abis end of Jan but hurt his hand , the show got cancelled anyway but kev would have made this date no problem

Nice one if this happens. I have a little soft spot for the EU title, can be a good stepping stone. If this does happen I think the promoters should contact Premiersports who seem keen to expand their boxing output.

How many all British EU title fights have there been? Any?

I would like to see more British fighters go for the EU title. It makes sense for good British fighters, that are having trouble getting a shot at a domestic title, to go for it.

Lloyd lost on points, the fight was stopped after 6 rounds due to cuts to Luciano Abis , Lloyd had been deducted 2 points for head work, but this may of been harsh
