all in all was an ok night out. i think we got to see some very good local talent on display. i liked the look of most of the undercard winners esp nieman, murdock, lovett and dib.

not a bad night out for free tickets i say :TU:

Maybe this referee wants to be the Barry Gomersall of boxing (not a compliment).

the ref had to step in alot because of the constant hugging. When the decision was announced all there bogan yobbos at the bar were all yelling out "fkn bullshit" Haha was hilarious. I though after the two kds it was pretty clear. Glad i didnt see much of undercard.

Dion McNabney sounds about the level I'd expect...

Hahaha it was the same at the pub i went to...its just like what the f@#k were you watching?

but on a serious note, Garth Wood is not a boxer and for him to be where he is in Australian boxing is a joke. Australian Boxing is bad enough without clowns and talentless tradies that think they can box.

his M.O might not look pretty mate but he certainly makes maximum use of limited boxing skills. he was level on 2 scroecards going into the 9th round. not many have achieved that against mundine.

I doubt you ever bought nor attended any fight/show...given all you do 24/7 day in day out is cruise forums & base your opinion on others' opinion.

I heard marlin actually finished work early, just incase there were any unforeseen incidents on the journey home that would force him to miss the start of the card.

I attended the night.
Firstly the positives: The venue was great, the crowd was small, the jack daniels was cold, the seats were spaced out so there was heaps of leg room. I had a great view of the ring. the main fight was better than I expected and I had it pretty close to a draw.
The negatives: the card was crap. The ref was shocking, no merchandise or even a prgram available to be purchsed. i share a cab this morning with a fighter and his corner and get told that none of their expenses such as accomodation had been paid for as promised.
So Im thinking if Boxa dont have merchandise or programs available and cant get anymore that 3500 people to an event (number given to me by Ent Cent staff) then there must be a shitload of people getting his fights on PPV. Or is it simply that they dont pay their undercard fighters or any expenses for these guys !!!! Still would like to know the ppv results ??
Did I mention the Jacks was cold !!!

Anthony said pre-fight that when he wins he'll be taking on an overseas opponent.

Who's available from Thailand or Brazil these days?

We've heard this for what, the last 8-9 years from you Anthony?

Hmmm, if it wasn't for Giancarlo I wouldn't have seen Da Goose's post as I have him on ignore, he is the only person I have on ignore and this is due to his irrelevance to boxing, it appears he is not a boxing fan, is not a former or current boxer, is not in any way involved in boxing as a trainer, a trainer's assistant or official and does not promote fights or contribute as a volunteer for the amateurs, as I said, totally irrelevant.

But I have seen this post now and will address it. Da Goose, whilst I did not in any way contribute to this card financially, you know I watched it as you read my round by round report at ESB, and can clearly see that I responded to questions on this thread during the progress of the show. All opinions I have typed could only be my own, and to say I don't watch or go to fights and base my opinions on that of the vox populi is ludicrously clutching at straws as my opinion is usually polarising and cause for debate.

I see you have claimed Brad Pitt has a glass jaw, I wonder how many of his fights have you actually watched? Have you seen him fight live? I didn't see his last fight, the one in the U.S. that you stake this claim on, but I wonder, have you? Do you know what you're even talking about? Or have you based your opinion on what other people and the 'on paper' statistics have said?

Da Goose, how many fights have you actually attended this year? And last year? Are you still welcome at promotions? How many fights have you watched over the last couple of years? And most importantly, for the smart arsed know it all that you are, what, pray tell, do you positively contribute to the sport?

You have the audacity to hang shit on all and sundry associated with this sport, except the young Ellis boys where you aren't smart enough or informed enough to know that they are merely front men for their old man, yet what do you contribute to this sport positively? Prove me wrong, please, but all I see is a bitter old parasite that was never accepted in a community where a smile and a "g'day" and the willingness to offer a hand is all one needs for acceptance.

Just 'cos I haven't done anything for boxing, don't go to fights nor watch them on TV, doesn't mean I can't express my opinion in forums. :P :P

Doesn't say much for the boxers he has beaten, including a former World champion he knocked out, does it? Interesting that anthony's victory does not put him back in "Boxrec's" top ten middleweights.

There is a reason Mundine gave up his belt and not face Kessler again. Why is Australian boxing so poor? Do all the good athletes simply gravitate towards aussie rules, rugby league and cricket?

What is your problem with tradesmen? Few boxers in this country make enough from boxing to live on. a trade gives a man a living. Do you want University Graduates to box ( and I don't mean those Soviet era phys ed degrees the Klitschkos have.) ?

Four "contender" fights under Boxa aegis and two main events. Six fights to make a million?

Green fought in three world title or interim world titles fights in Europe and North America before fighting Mundine. He probably earned at least a million before the Mundine fight. A million is not much in modern boxing.

If it comes to that a million is not much in any business. The average Australian CEO gets paid four or five million a year to run a company into the ground than about 15 million to get rid of him.

Tell that to, say, Micheal Katsidis, who got $100 000 U.S. for his last fight, and who had to pay for his own opponent on a BOXA show, who won't have earned a million dollars all up, since he left school, with all his pay from all his jobs combined.

Bad management if true. Katsidis got $US412,000 to fight Mitchell.
