Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Never mind who you think will win...who will you be supporting on Saturday night?
It's a shame the TV company hasn't had a chance to do a lot of promotional work to build the match. I hear McCloskey's home town and local area is absolutely buzzing.

Khan because it will lead to better matchups in the future. Supporting is a bit strong, because it would be a nice story if Dudey won.

Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Khan. Simply because I believe he is a class above Paul and I want to see him in with Bradley in the summer. McCloskey-Bradley doesn't have quite the same level of anticipation. I would like to see Khan unify the light-welter division and move up to welter for some big fights (which we can all watch on SKY sports/Premier/Box office/Primetime/ITV/internet stream..... delete as appropriate).
Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
McCloskey. I'm Irish but even if I wasn't, I find it very difficult to relate to Khan and his team. Together they represent a lot of what is wrong about boxing. I would like to see him sparked in even more devastating fashion than he was against Prescott.
Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Khan.
The Bradley fight is an intriguing one for me with the clash of styles and one I struggle to pick a winner from. Khan is also in exciting fights, has the world at his feet and the frame to give it a go in higher divisions.
McCloskey isn't a kid on a fast rise taking a chance for longterm gain and isn't a longtime pro that has come up the hard way and now finally finds himself a shot at the big time - therefore the upset doesn't really appeal.

I won't be watching it so I couldn't give a rats bladder.
Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Khan is not my favourite fighter but I find it hard to wish for a fighter with his talent to have their career derailed at this stage.
I also think his move to America is good for British boxing. We all know he's going to take on Bradley next because it's the fight everyone wants, and it will happen in Vegas or MSG were the biggest fights happen. There wont be any protracted arguements or attempts to have it staged at the Reebok stadium etc.

But for me, I'm not watching because of McCloskey, not Khan.Andypittcov wrote:I won't be watching it so I couldn't give a rats bladder.
There is nobody that McCloskey could fight that would make me want to buy a PPV, but the same isn't true of Khan.

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm not watching because I don't think the cards worth £15 it's not out of spite towards either fighter.Lenny wrote:But for me, I'm not watching because of McCloskey, not Khan.Andypittcov wrote:I won't be watching it so I couldn't give a rats bladder.

Someone on a different thread said the casual fans will be watching the real/barca game and the real fans will be watching khan, that's bollox I'll be watching the football simply because it's free and will be equally if not more entertaining.
You've got to draw the line somewhere, one day we'll be paying £30 for a British title fight.
Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Amir Khan, he's gonna be a Legend
Got some mates who want to come round for the fight, so it looks like I'll be buying (I feel unclean doing it though)

For 68% of people to want to see a fantastic world champion, and decent guy, lose his title is unbelievable. I find it flabbergasting how much ill will there is towards Khan on this forum.
Respect to McCloskey and his fans, and of course the Irish contingent are behind him, but it seems the majority of UK posters want Amir to lose as well.
He's a good guy and a great boxer, I guess it's the PPV issue, the tweeting and other factors which cast a shadow over his popularity.
I want khan to win, and think he will, but I hope Paul does himself justice.

x2
I hope Khan wins as it is almost a certainty Bradley will be his next fight - a fight I want to see. But at the same time I have rated McCloskey for a long time. As Captain Hook mentions, I hope he does himself justice and shuts up some of the US types who have never seen him fight yet think it will be a blow-out and poses Khan a few problems.

A fairly typical British outlook and the fact that it wasn't gonna cost £15, then it was didn't helpCaptain Hook wrote:For 68% of people to want to see a fantastic world champion, and decent guy, lose his title is unbelievable. People were queueing up round the block to see Naz get beat when he3 was about, which used to piss me off

Amir is a fantastic boxer and has the world at his feet at a very young age. I'm not that convinced that Amir is a decent guy. McCloskey is more a type that I could imagine being less of an arse. Khan is lots more talented than Paul; he's likely to win very handily. I do hope that McCloskey beats him though; all the out of the ring stuff (not down to Amir; though something done in his name) has made him seem a grabbing, egotistical man on the make.
Go on Paul McCloskey; grab the chance of a lifetime; give him hell!

Paul McCloskey, he seems a top, level headed guy.
Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
Paul Mc. Ever since he turned pro Khan's lack of charm, wit, humility and charisma has sent me way off him.

Re: Poll: Khan v McCloskey - Who do you WANT to win?
McCloskey.
Khan is the more talented and could well go on to unify the titles which Paul is unlikely to do. Khan has the good looks, style, Olympic success, TV following, Big time promoters and star quality. He is you Hollywood story.
McCloskey is a local small town lad. Worked hard to make the most of his talents. No major money behind him but has gone about his business the right way. Will not get many big opportunities nor live long in the spot light. It may well be now or never. More of an Irish story.

Khan-Bradley is a fight that I really want to see, so I want Khan to win this.

I am a big fan of Khan's skills in the ring but I want McCloskey to win.

It seems Khan's as popular as a reggae band at a Klu Klux Klan convention
