HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE
BRITISH HEAVYWEIGHT SUPER FIGHT
Hennessy Sports are pleased to announce that yesterday at the British Boxing Board of Control's offices in Cardiff they outbid allegedly to stage the highly anticipated British Heavyweight title Super Fight between Tyson Fury and Champion Dereck Chisora.
Promoter Mick Hennessy said "I’m delighted to announce that Hennessy Sports have won the rights to stage this well talked about mega fight and as per BBBofC rules we will be announcing the date and venue for this contest within the next 14 days."
Tyson said "Del boy has got no excuses now, my promoter has just handed him by far the biggest purse of his career and if he pulls out of this fight now in my opinion he will prove himself to be a right plonker.”
"The last time a heavyweight (Williams vs. Harrison) grudge match was fought for the British title it attracted over 8 million viewers on ITV1, only this is a much better fight than that one, between two undefeated hungry young heavyweights". added Fury.

Nice to see Mick back in the mix, but I'm surprised he's won the bids.HS Press wrote:HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE

The first obvious question is, what TV station is this gonna go out on? (if it goes ahead)
Dave Coldwell won the Groves-Degale purse bids and allegedly is staging the fight, so lets see if there are any further progressions
Lets get it on!!
Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA

Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
Good match up. Wont get into who will put the fight on etc, but I like Chisora in this one too. Not by much.

My thinking exactly Chambers. We might be in a new era now regarding the winners of purse bids and the staging of fights. But Mick does appear to be forging a relationship with Premier, so he could go it aloneChambers2 wrote:Dave Coldwell won the Groves-Degale purse bids and allegedly is staging the fight, so lets see if there are any further progressions

Is it safe to assume you are not having a role in this fight?
Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
Could this be put on the May 21st bill. Would make up a great night
Cleverly v Brehmer

Some might say it's making a mockery of the purse bid process (not me though)Glyn Leach wrote:My thinking exactly Chambers. Didn't realise Mick had links to Premier, maybe I was reading Mick his last rites too early. He's still my favourite promoter in terms of his promoting ethics, but his stable is looking sparse at the moment and it's gonna be difficult to strengthen it without a firm TV contract behind him.
Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
I don't know its relevance but on Facebook when someone praised Premier for the Watson vs O Donnell 2 bill - labelling it a "cracker" - Premier's response was "most expensive cracker ever"..... so might have been a speculative thing. Premier openly admit to losing money so far on boxing.Glyn Leach wrote:My thinking exactly Chambers. We might be in a new era now regarding the winners of purse bids and the staging of fights. Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
Can't see FW allowing Chisora to fight on this show, I too am far more interested in the Froch situation, but we won't get any replies
I still don't understand why we allow a poster to just put up spammy press releases when he never interacts back.
The likes of boxingchat will always fight his corner.

Sky have already ploughed a lot of money into that show, be surprised if they'd spend even more - be great if they did though, a third big fight (no offence Frankie) would really make it something special.Camcas wrote:This better not be on Premier, hope its on 21st May bill
Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
Fantastic news
Superb match-up between two big talkers who are prepared to walk big too.
With Froch-Johnson already set and now this, which will set the standard for the British title scene, I'm really looking forward to this. Just down to Sportsnetwork to step up and accept....
This fight should not be playing second fiddle to any other fights and should be the bill topper.

Would love to see Fury-Chisora take place at the Royal Albert now - no better place to stage a British Title bout between two unbeaten heavyweights!

Very good fight, just hope we get to watch it on TV now.
Re: HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE FURY VS CHISORA
It might well be the biggest purse of his career, but will it be enough? People have wanted to see this one for a while, and I'm sure Chisora will want a fair old wedge. He'll know all about the kind of dough that won the Degale v Groves purse bid (a reported 400K) even if the super middles don't quite end up getting that much from allegedly after he 'rescued' it.HS Press wrote:HENNESSY SPORTS WIN RIGHTS TO STAGE

If I remember, Hennessey Sports won the purse bids for Fury v McDermott, but Maloney ended up staging it, presumably cos of Sky. They did put on a cracking show at Wembley recently though, and I wish them all the best, they've had some shite luck.

Hmm they hinted at that after the Martinez/Williams rematch but since they they have picked up a lot of fights. Maybe they are just keeping a lid on things by pleading no money to buy all the fights going.stujones wrote:I don't know its relevance but on Facebook when someone praised Premier for the Watson vs O Donnell 2 bill - labelling it a "cracker" - Premier's response was "most expensive cracker ever"..... so might have been a speculative thing. I hope they get this fight on Premier though the other Wembley Bill was nights boxing. Who was commentating again, Buncey and some other chap with Andy Kerr hosting that worked well.
