McCloskly hands back 2k of 5k tickets according to Khan...

Post by SAPFO »

This was a childish statement on Khan's Official facebook an hour or so ago but I cannot find it now. It read, "McClosky handed back 2000 of the 5000 tickets.."

Selling 3000 yourself ain't bad. How many did Khan personally sell other than through the box office?

3,000 tickets sold by the overseas fighter is pretty good going if you ask me.

Only 7,154 fans turned out on Saturday night in Vegas to see a card showing all of Malignaggi-Cotto, Katsidis-Guerrero & Morales-Maidana.

Either way...Big deal! There is no rule to say you need to sell alot of tickets to be a good fighter. I bet Prescott didn't sell any tickets compared to Khan but it didn't stop him knocking him out did it?!.......

3000 tickets = between £150,000 and £200,000. Pretty good going I reckon.

And it doesn't account for the number of people who bought tickets via. Ticketmaster with the intention of heading up to support McCloskey. If McCloskey sold 3k tickets himself, then I'd put the number of tickets sold to McCloskey fans at 5k+.

This is the thing about this fight, if Khan Promotions had invested in, and promoted properly, a decent undercard, they would be quids in. Instead, they vastly overvalued their own man, f**ked their relationship with Sky and made themselves look extremely amateur in the process.

I feel a bit sorry for Khan, cos he is coming off the back of his best performance - one in which he went a long way to answering his boxing critics. He's got a world class coach, and the best possible sparring partner, but his management team seem to be making a complete balls-up of the out-of-the-ring stuff, and he doesn't need to be dealing with/hearing about all this the week before a fight.

Maybe its difficult to sack your family, but they should really hand control over to someone who knows what they are doing, otherwise he might end up retiring with a couple less zeros on his balance sheet.

I bet allegedly is pissing himself.

lets not forget that Khans only gave McCloskeys their tickets on the drip and they kept running out and a lot paniced and bought off ticketmaster.

I would say there will be 7000 Irish fans between McCloskey, Murray, Kavanagh and Manc Irish,

i think that Amir and his team MASSIVELY underrated the job f rank wa rren did in bring amir back from the prescott debacle. he and his team, whatever their faults, are capable of doing fantastic work and this is one example. matching him with barrera, for example, was a stroke of genius ...

I think we'll see how many McClosky has brought to the venue on actual fight night. it will surely be more than the 3,000. I'm sure there are tons of people who just bought through Ticketmaster that he will get no credit for. Petty.

A few people in my work here in Co. Tyrone bought tickets on Ticketmaster the day they went on sale. This was before Dudey was offering them for face value only with no booking fees etc. This fight looks like McCloskey is "doing it for the fans"!

How many fighters in this country could sell 3,000 tickets? A handful IMO, Khan should be grateful to McCloskey.

I think the point was that McCloskey's camp claimed to have sold 6,000 tickets

McCloskeys did nearly 3000 tickets personally - they handed back zip.

As said, Khans only provided the tickets on the drip - a slow drip - and most McCloskey fans understandably panicked as McCloskeys kept running out and went bought from ticketmaster.

I think they were pissed of that they got none of the £40 tickets either.
