A couple of years ago he was the next "big thing" from warren (like Haider ali, Gary Lockett etc etc etc), getting the full Ringside treatment etc. He then stumbled against Facey (who I recall got his teeth re-arranged by Jamie moore a couple of fights later).
I see looking at his boxrec record he fought last month for the Irish Middleweight title after nearly a year out.
He was portrayed as a boxing enthusiast and a real learner.
Anybody got any details about why his career procression has slowed?
Whats the story with Matthew Macklin?
Good question, Macklin was very impressive vs Scott Dixon a few fights (and a few years) back. I just hope he's been struggling to find an opponent or struggling to get on a promotion. I thought he had turned the corner after the Facey fight.
Thats another fighter I would like to ask what is happening, is he still scheduled to defend vs David Walker?

Think he's had lots of injury problems with his hands that have hindered his career and maybe another case of a SN fighter getting the big build-up before proving himself. I think his team turned down a Takaloo fight a while back but again, I also think he was injured.
Has never looked like the second-coming when I've watched him and while he got found out against Facey – maybe it was just too early to match him against such an unorthodox foe who'd found a bit of form.
Now Facey – there's a kid who could have been a good fighter if his trainers had been able to get him to keep his chin down and drum a few subtle orthodox skills into his Ingle-style. That's the thing isn't it with Ingle fighters. It's a good style if you're talented enough to pull it off, but if not, you get your teeth bashed out (bit harsh I know, but just a little observation).

Yes, I liked the look of Macklin as a fighter. I don't recall him getting 'found out' against Facey either, from my recollection he was unlucky not to get the nod against a more experienced and in-form opponent.
I think he then moved to the Billy Graham team which I thought would do him good and he looked ok after this.
And now he has dropped off the radar....

I think your spot on there. I don't think facey is good enough to take the Ingle style to a british title level. Eventually, you get to a level where they'll find your chin a bit too easily, and for Facey, it was the Jamie Moore fight.DIRT SUGAR wrote:That's the thing isn't it with Ingle fighters.
