Martinez v Booth (spoiler)

Well Booth put up a brave display , but the shear strength and power of Martinez was evident from the start. the Spaniard won by 10th round KO.

From the first bell it was Booth moving and Martinez chasing and closing the gap down, Martinez did alot more body work than i've seen him do recently, and clearly won the first few rounds, Jason was always in it, but his punches lacked the power to make Martinez think about what was coming back to him. This allowed Kiko to dictate the fight and he was getting the better of the exchanges.

Maybe the plan was for Jason to come into the fight later, but in the 5th he was rocked by a big right hand and looked as if he might go down, but he grabbed Martinez and wrestled him to the floor, this and some good movement after saved him, but the writing was on the wall.
Marinez just didn't slow up , at the start of every round he came out throwing big punches to put Booth off firing back, Jason would have odd spells of getting his boxing going, and he was slipping a fair few of the punches coming at him, but wasn't able to land enough himself.

The fight from the 8th onwards was getting a bit painful to watch if you are a fan of Booth's, he showed immense bravery to still be in there competing, not alot of boxers would of been able to take the punches he did. In the 9th Jason was again rocked, but being the champion that he is he refused to take a knee for a count, and spent the rest of the round showing how to try and get yourself out of trouble.
but at the start of the 10th he was just in a neautral corner and got hit with a big left hook, he was on his knees and just on raising the ref waved his hands, i'm not sure if it was a stoppage or count out, either way Jason had done enough and couldn't give anymore.

Jason Booth will be bitterly dissapointed that he didn't win, but in losing he showed tremendous courage and Martinez showed great respect to Jason after the fight.

it was allways going to b a hard task going to spain but jason still has the common wealth and british title for 1 last fight in england but the young guns r hot on his tail think its one last fight jason me old fightin friend and fightin partner

Sounds like a real brave effort, he's had a good career. Ultimately, too small at Super Bantam though. I hope Rendall Munroe really aims for Ndlovu, I think he would win comfortably.

good point out fight hattons can make that fight after this one deserves another shot if that fight hasnt took too much out of him

Martinez is a huge super bantam as well, He's one of those boxers you've got to have the power to make him think about whats coming at him, something that Jason just didn't have, otherwise Martinez just dominates.

I can see Booth being put in with Quigg or Frampton now, hopefully he has one last big performance to bow out on!

Watched rounds 8-10 he took some serious punishment in the 9th especially. He showed alot of heart it was a shame seeing him get stopped. Martinez showed his power the final left hook he landed was a peach. He was very magnanimous towards Booth afterwards.

Well - I doubt Martinez is any better than the fighter who lost comfortably to Munroe, Booth was very close in beating Molitor. Which, no disrespect to Booth, just shows how much Molitor has slipped. Now, I doubt Ndlovu is any better than the fighter who lost handily to Molitor.

Well - I doubt Martinez is any better than the fighter who lost comfortably to Munroe, Booth was very close in beating Molitor. Which, no disrespect to Booth, just shows how much Molitor has slipped. Now, I doubt Ndlovu is any better than the fighter who lost handily to Molitor.

I would steer Booth away from a fight with Quigg, even after long rest.

The fight that i see happening is Booth vs Napa, one each Sky would have it.. Both small at the weight but makes a great fight......

ha sat ringside that night and said to our reporter god wish he came like that when i fought him but that was my 5th 12rounder in 13months and true what i say after fights i always lived like a normal man food wise pub wise little to much for a champion to do but thats me and what you c is what ya get mate i hold nothing back

He really did, he was as slick and stylish as they came. Amazing how the defeat against Cabellero affected Molitor.
