Not sure what the issues are but they have two weeks to get it together. It would really be terrible if boxers won the Natl. Golden Gloves only to find out it didn't advance them in the Olympic qualification process. This is why boxers should enter as many qualification tournaments as they can!! You just can't assume anything these days but this may just be a release to get someone(s) to do a certain thing that someone(s) wants them to. It really reads like a "read-in-between-the-lines" message directed at someone. You would think that the tone of this plus subject matter would warrant stating exactly what the issues publicly since it was released publicly in an "official" USAB communication.
Don't you think so counselor? [Dennis] :??

Re: Golden Gloves "Warning" from USAB-Olympic Status in Jeopardy
Usually with the GG's, it is that they are allowing non US citizens to compete or they do not want to use computer scoring or both. When I was at the nationals last year, I saw that they have a lot of judges that only do GG's tournaments and never use computer scoring and look really old. If they forced to use the scoring system, don't expect good results with people who never use the system. It's one of the reasons that USAB is falling behind the rest of world in amateur boxing. It's not that I like the system, I think it sucks but USAB and it's group members has to keep up or continue to slide downward.

I'm just guessing but I know in our locals we only did 3 minute rds for ONLY the championship bouts for open fighters. At the Nationals GG last year didn't they only do 2 minute rounds until the semis or finals? I know that people were complaining about that too. The new scoring system isn't in place in my area, I wouldn't want them experimenting with that yet and it's my understanding that we still had more time for using that. The USAB post talks about past violations too as if they have been going on during the locals and regionals around the country. The Non-citizen rule is pretty clear and I don't think that is an issue this year like it has been in the past. I guess we will see. I just hope that they figure it out BEFORE the tournament and not afterwards.JMac wrote:Usually with the GG's, it is that they are allowing non US citizens to compete or they do not want to use computer scoring or both. Just to let everybody know. Golden Gloves has come to an agreement with USA Boxing to keep the National Golden Gloves as an Olympic qualifier. I commend the Golden Gloves, and USA Boxing for working out thier issues in an amicable fashion.
