Oh yes it was. It was going in his eye and the first thing you learn at Medical school is to preserve life - not prolong a boxing match.reggaereggae wrote:what a load of nonsense. It was a good stoppage. You can't fight with blood trickling straight into your eye. That's a recipe for brain damage right there.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
Khan-Bradley will definitely be a great "clash" if you know what I mean
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
It was during, before and after Charlie..... He was seething like Barry - but he was dissapointed.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
I've seen guys with worse cuts allowed to fight on. Give the guy a couple rounds, instruct him to look to land a haymaker, if he doesnt succeed then pull him out.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
It's not being wise after the fact, it could have turned out to be a fantastic fight but it still wouldn't have been a PPV worthy fight for my money; for that both fighters need to bring prestige.stujones wrote:Not why people are laughing at those who bought the PPV - it was a head clash, it happens..... It was a better fight than Khan vs Barrera.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
Why would he be yelling bullshit before the fight was called?charlieb wrote:Was that before or after the fight was called?Ash-Weston wrote:Correctcrusader wrote:
I believe McCloskey yelled "bullshit" a couple times
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
Not from what I saw.stujones wrote:It was during, before and after Charlie..... He was seething like Barry - but he was dissapointed.
What I saw was McCloskey getting rocked earlier in the round and then calmly talking to the ref before it was waved off and then there was a bit of protest.
I've downed a few though, so that may have been just me seeing things.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
My point was that it's easy to protest after the fact.crusader wrote:Why would he be yelling bullshit before the fight was called?charlieb wrote:Was that before or after the fight was called?Ash-Weston wrote: Correct

Of course, but you may be talking about cuts where the blood is not going directly into the eye.diddy wrote:I've seen guys with worse cuts allowed to fight on. Give the guy a couple rounds, instruct him to look to land a haymaker, if he doesnt succeed then pull him out.

If you were concerned about McCloskey's health, can I suggest you have not watched many boxing matches?keithmoonhangover wrote:Oh yes it was. Even last week Morales boxed 11 rounds with a closed eye. If you were the ref Marciano would've lost 10 fights.
I can only assume you're biased, drunk, or not an experienced boxing fan
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
Why not give McCloskey another round to see if the blood would even impact his performance? Look at what Morales did with one eye.keithmoonhangover wrote:Of course, but you may be talking about cuts where the blood is not going directly into the eye.diddy wrote:I've seen guys with worse cuts allowed to fight on. I'd agree.smoggy7188 wrote:Khan said Dudey wanted to quit and told the ref he cudnt continue.
All I saw was head shakes while he was being questioned by the doc.
Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
Barrera was allowed to fight on with a worse cut.

Re: Round by Round Khan bill.
In reality it's down to the ref or doctor. Maybe you could let him go on, but just imagine trying to conentrate with something in your eye. Then imagine a guy punching you while you blink. Good stoppage.crusader wrote:Why not give McCloskey another round to see if the blood would even impact his performance? Nice unbiased comments from Steve Collins!
Sod it, if McCloskey had won a couple of rounds and hurt Khan you could say so but Khan was on top, having one of his best rounds and had won five rounds!
