Would still have strongly favoured Khan to win but there was a good chance of some competitive rounds in the second half of the fight and who knows what would have happened.

I think McCloskey quit and then tried to make it out that the ref/doctor stopped it afterwards.

You can clearly see that the Doctor asked him if he wanted to continue and he seemed to say No...he didn't exactly look too upset the fight was waved off, shame as the second half of the fight could have been interesting.

well when the doctor was inspecting his eye i didn't see any ethusiasm from McCloskey to continue...normally a fighter would be saying he's ok and want's to continue but i didn't see that from him and he probably gave the doctor no choice but to wave it off.

Khan talked beforehand like it was signed then afterwards Oscar talked it down. Very strange, but certainly looking less likely to me now.

No choice I'm afraid, just like Craig Watson had no choice earlier on in the night.

I think McCloskey was exagerating how tired Khan was, but he was having more success as the fight went on. I think he went in fully expecting to lose the early rounds and then try to do some damage in the second half.

Khan came off as an arsehole in his post fight, saying how he would have hurt McCloskey. He never even came close to hurting him in six rounds and until the headbutt, McCloskey didn't even have a mark on him.

Commentators got on my nerves harping on about 6 punch combos as well even though 95% of what was thrown in those combos missed or hit gloves.

It's a bit early to be saying that. The fault could lie with McCloskey.

That's the way it looked to me. Saw a way out and took it.

It'll depend on what the doctor has to say. It's just a shame he wasn't interviewed immediately after the stoppage.

Generally you tend to see people who sustain cuts and wish to continue, bouncing off the walls trying to prove they're fit to do so when faced with a doctor, whereas McCloskey looked very negative.

In the fifth and sixth he was really getting caught by solid shots. Bad stoppage, but McCloskey was just not landing. At best he would have lost a wide decision.

True, I actually felt McCloskey let himself down a bit tonight. We all knew he could make Khan look bad, big deal, he needed to grasp the nettle and he just didn't do that.
