Photo of McCloskey's cut
Re: Photo of McCloskey's cut
It was a bullshit stoppage no doubt. McCloskey could have helped himself by winning one of the first six rounds but should have been allowed to carry on.

They saw the oppurtunity to get the win stat on khans record and jumped at it... same with barrera..
Khan is a hype job, but at the same time a very capable boxer who would just prefer the easy way out if it becomes available.
McClosky was robbed of a chance last night.

This is not Khan's fault - The Barrera fight was more dodgy IMO.Bob & Weave wrote:They saw the oppurtunity to get the win stat on khans record and jumped at it... same with barrera..

Re: Photo of McCloskey's cut
If the same cut was opened over Khans eye as a result of a punch, would they still have waved off the fight so quickly and awarded the win to McCloskey? I doubt it.

of course not. unfortunately boxing is often about the 'house fighter' etc. the cut that dudey sustained is of course nothing compared to the likes of hatton v thaxton...... but, saying that, dudeys cut is quite a bad one and its above the eye.johnswan1 wrote:If the same cut was opened over Khans eye as a result of a punch, would they still have waved off the fight so quickly and awarded the win to McCloskey? McCloskey should have went on. I found it bizarre he didn't make a case to the doctor though - he could have seen the round out. Maybe the cut-man could have done some work on it.

It's assumed that the doctor forced the stoppage.johnswan1 wrote:If the same cut was opened over Khans eye as a result of a punch, would they still have waved off the fight so quickly and awarded the win to McCloskey? I doubt it.
I saw an interview with McCloskey on HBO last night, right after they screened the fight on delay. He seemed very upset, but I found it rather suspicious that when directly questioned about whether he'd wished to continue, he wouldn't give a yes or no answer, he simply talked around it, albeit he seemed upset and disgusted, he still managed to sidestep the direct question.
Where's the doctor? Come on journos, this site's riddled with you, get on the phone and get the lowdown.
