cheers pal. seems like a bit of a media circus. khan was trying to convince himself more than anybody? maybe the maidana fight has took something that he'll never get back?

Yes. Don't know punch stats, but would be surprised if McCloskey landed many more than a dozen punches. Was quite elusive early on, but did next to nothing.

i think khans corner expected a quick stoppage. but that never happened. leads me to suggest that maybe the maidana fight took more out of khan than the public know of? he was trying to sound convincing at the post fight interview?

Didn't you just say you never saw the fight? That's a big assumption to make. Realistically, McCloskey was being awkwards and difficult to pin down. Beyond that, he barely landed a punch.

Yeah, he really seems to have lost the ability to dominate the first 6 rounds of a world title fight... oh, wait...

Khan gave a perfectly capable performance. Not sure what the potential issues are with him you are refering too?

Why say "I can only state facts" if you're going to indulge in wild speculation?

Wondering whether Khan, owing to a performance you haven't seen, might have been affected by a specific incident when there's no reason to suppose that incident, rather than any other incident or series of incidents, caused the perceived downturn in the performance (which you haven't seen) when the existence of the perceived downturn hasn't actually been established in the first place? Yes, that's wild speculation.

Nothing wrong with wild speculation on an internet forum. Just don't say "I can only state facts" and then do it. The facts are Khan beat Maidana, and then won all six rounds against McCloskey.

Shock horror, bit of favoritism shown to the champion on his own show when he was winning the fight hands down!

McCloskey wasn't even at the races, he was a volantary, does anyone in their right mind think anyone will bend over backwards to give him the rematch when it was a poor fight and when Amir is the cash cow.

Khan has much bigger fish to fry

McCloskey should have made a case to the doctor, a bad stoppage though.

A world title fight stopped because of that cut, a disgrace.
A world title fight stopped half way through a round that the cut happened in and Mc Closkeys cut man not even given a chance to work on it, a disgrace.
Khan, Freddie Roche & Oscar De la Hoya's comments after the fight, a disgrace!
Lost a lot of recpect for Roche for him saying that McCloskey shook his head and it looked like he didn't want to continue! fornicate off Freddie. He shook his head cause he couldn't believe wht was happening.

Del la hoya saying well thats sport!, bullshit, have a decent doctor at ringside who wont stop a fight for a simpe cut! Have a refree who wont bottle it. Where is the duty of care to the fighter and his team and paying fight fans at home in the arena.

fornicate the fight game and its promoters. I fell out of love with the sweet science (again) last night.

Khan would have dominated him for 12 rounds. McClouskey didn't even have a punchers chance.

Lets get this right here guys! The doctor saved McCloskey from much worse facial damage. McCloskey barely threw a punch and looked to have no possible chance of winning. Also how is it Khan's fault? I'm sure he would quite happily have peppered that eye for the next 6 rounds on his way to a whitewash victory. Taking a step back and looking at it properly McCloskey has done better from the stoppage than Khan. Khan bizzarely finds himself a hate figure for something he had no control over. McCloskey walks away with everyone's sympathy and with repuation in tact, able to claim he would have won. Frankly McCloskey should send the dr a thank-you card!
