Frankie said its a step up - I think a former British champion and world title challenger who lost controvesially to one of the leading fighters in the UK now (on the verge of a mandated world title shot) is a significant step up compared to Lomax.

Its not going to be a British title fight, but I think its going to be against an opponent people think is capable of boxing at British title level. Its an easy fight to make also.

The Light Welter thing is the issue though, I'll give you that.

Hope its not Jennings, I'd still like to see him have 1 last crack at the British, don't want Mr Warren to keep using him as potential stepping stone for his younger prospects.

Think Jennings would give Gavin a very very tough test and could beat him

I still think it will be Jennings - I think Gavin will come down to Light Welter for title fights.

Makes no odds, Frankie will beat whoever us put in a ring with him, it's quite simple, if you can't hit him, how you gonna beat him?

Frankie Gavin is one of our best prospects, Michael Jennings wouldn't be able to put any kind of dent in him at all. He's not a puncher and Frankie is sharper and better in all departments. Would be a step up though I'll give you that.

its 100% not Mick.

he would give Gavin way more problems than anyone else in British 147 along with Kell Brook but he's not fighting May 21.

How about Gavin v Brook? Now there's a fight... won't get made though.

cant agree with you there - Gavins got way more boxing ability - it just depends which weight he's carrying the most potency at right now 140 or 147. Mick J was just warming into the fight when that duff cut stopped it and beyond that Brook hasn't had a proper test. Gavin is different gravy.

Lenny Daws would be a really good learning fight for him, maybe an eliminator. Steve Williams for his English title would be good as well.

the way people talk on here there is only about 3 fighters that will be a step up for gavin thats khan bradley or alexander.give me a break people he has got to prove himself not a 5 day notice lomax a good fighter who gets 5-6 weeks training camp when i see this and gavin coming through ill hold my hands up and say gavin you are a real contender untill then ill sit on the fence and judge with what i see

I weren't being flippant or clever. I know that both Tony Bellew and Frankie Gavin post here. I thought that if Michael couldn't beat Frankie then it's a toss up whether Kell could given Jennings didn't box to his best and weren't bashed about.

it wasnt directed at you simon it was a comment i feel is true, people think he is world class already but hasnt really fought anyone near the top in england.no question he has talent cause you dont become a world champion in the amateurs if your not any good,i just think people throw the word "world class" around far too easily these days

It'll not be as exciting as speculated IMO. They aren't going to say "we're putting Frankie in with a faded former British title holder because we think he's a name opponent and a stepping stone".

Probably be Michael Jennings, Jason Cook or someone of that ilk.

Frankie is a 140 fighter, however he is good enough to mess around with 147 fighters cos he is just so talented! Jennings is a test as he would be holding all the advantages, experience, size etc etc, like I have said in the past though, people just don't understand how hard Frankie is to hit! The kid is special.. There's no need to rush with him either as he's still young and more importantly still learning ;)
