There is some absolute horseshit being spoken on here about Amir Khan.

I remember before the Maidana fight was sealed people were screaming for the fight, after it happened with Amir proving what everyone asked him to prove which was that hw had heart and a chin, people now discredit the win.

Last night he fought the European champion who whilst was not a world beater was hardly Damon Reed was he??

Why has no-one mentioned the fact that McCloskey for a world title challenger did very little in the fight??

Why is it Amir's fault that the ref and the doctor stopped the fight?

If I were Amir I would stay well clear of the UK, at least he is appreciated in the states. What a sad thing to say, but its true

He also fought Marcos Rene Maidana, who is the #4 in his division. Even Ali fought the odd Alvin "Blue" Lewis.

The Maidana form line is hanging by a thread and will be dead and buried later when Berto smashes Ortiz.

to be honest i dont like khan i think he is punching way above his weight calling people out saying things like he is beating pacquiao in sparring,sprints exercises and stuff like this,when freddy says things to him in the gym there meant to be personal to him but he just comes straight out in interviews and says exactly what freddy tells him. khan has a big mouth and i wouldn t like him to be in the same gym as me,just my opinion mickey1975

The stoppage was premature and yes I can just about see the point that McCloskey might have began to press late in thefight. But do me a favour with the conspiracy stuff! Khan was handling Paul easily, is not as if he was on the brink of being stopped. In reality if the fight had continued Khan would have made a mess of McCloskeys face and been stopped a few rounds later. Seen in the context of saving a fighter from horrific facial damage who had barely thrown a punch, the stoppage was not outrageous.

From Khan's perspective, McCloskey made him miss with alarming regularity and he looked knackered as the rounds progressed. Hilariously he has the audacity to mention a fight with Mayweather after not being able to land a punch on McCloskey. If Khan ever gets in with a top counter puncher e.g. Marquez or Mayweather that'll be all she wrote.

Why thank you Yiddo14; My point was that though Amir has excellent attributes he does not box in a world class or P4P (or even PPV) manner. Everyone one his opponents has been beaten either through size/youth/speed advantage. No one has been out thought, he has not been in a 50/50 fight that he he has turned through professional guile. If McCloskey was a European level fighter and Khan a top World Champ he ought to have done better than win the rounds through speed and flurries. (IMO)

Yes; great hand speed is a fantastic attribute and it can also get in the way of developing other boxing skills (timing, leverage, angles etc). Khan is THE fastest lightwelter about but looks a one trick pony to me. Marquez is not as fast as Khan but with his skill and timing would have a field day; Khan does not seem to be developing the boxing skills needed to be an elite boxer, he is relying on his outstanding speed. (IMO)
