Im really impressed with the new team of steve holdsworth and danny williams. We all know no one tells a story and can carry a whole night of boxing like holdsworth....but danny williams continues to be a reveleation.....quietly charasmatic in an eloquent yet street way.........he is full of suprises, like when the 7- 23 woefully pakistani newzealander kashif mumtaz was being beaten up by a former world champion massimo massone he mentioned "mumtaz"means excellent in arabic!
Such irony is rare in seasoned pundits let alone a new comer like williams.

Also when holyfield fought sherman williams......danny painted a great insight into williams and his overhand right........williams was like a journalist giving us a scoop.

Williams is understated, knowledgable and talks only when he needs to......

Such a contrast with bob mee who altho knowledgable and a excellent written journalist sounds like nails being dragged down a blackboard in that unintetionally smartarsed whiny brogue of his......

I agree, DW is really good. He should hang up the gloves and commentate full time.

I'm not convinced to be honest - I think he needs a bit of training, sounded a bit like Dereck Williams to me.

Its early days but I think he gives too much perspective on his personal career and his perceptions of himself. We all know Danny blew hot and cold, sometimes I would like fringe world class - other times he would look like poor domestic title level, but in reality he failed at European level - fairly consistently. However, Danny seems to have the view (and I'm sure with some justification) that when he was "on form" he was world class and I think this sometimes clouds his judgement.

It was very insightful what he discussed Sherman Williams and his strengths and weaknesses. However, I think he went OTT when he started to say that he is a class opperator just hasn't had the chance. He's had lots of chances and has fallen short - plus it was 7 years since they sparred, he could have slipped alot since then.

Williams was world class in a very poor era for the hw's....thats world class only at his absolute best.....sadly that best was on a pretty rare night and he could always be relied on to freeze at european level......the faded tyson he beat, the kali meehan he beat were better than sinan sam yet he collapsed that night.....bob mivrovic, skelton,sprott and harrison werent really better than sinan samyet he blew that night....dannys career faded very very badly ....he is beyond shot to tatters as a boxer......so i hope his promising and enigmatic commentary is allowed a chance to grow......he leaves the viewer hanging on every word

DW is a legend, Holdsworth is a quality commentator too, it's crazy the likes of Smith and Neilly have had so much primetime coverage, shows it's all about who you know

I'm quite fond of Holdsworth even though he has a way of sucking the drama out of even the most exciting fights. They should never point a camera at him though because he looks like a baked potato.

Never heard him commentate, but his career deserves respect. The fight he had with Mark Potter was brutal.

I think most of his losses were mental, rather than being down to lack of skills or fitness.
