It was a corking fight but it deserved a proper ending. I think the ref was a little too hasty - it's not as if Lopez was out on his feet - he was still throwing shots. Still its always better to be a little too early than a little too late when it comes to a stoppage and there's no reason that a rematch shouldn't happen very soon.

And by showing vulnerability, Lopez may have made himself more attractive to Gamboa which is a fight everyone should want to see.

The whole weekend has been upsets and hasty ref's.

Stoppages like that should not be left to docs in world title fights.

Think Marquez-Conception might take it so far. Berto-Ortiz, Lee-McEwan and Cotto-Mayorga were all quite action packed though.

In terms of FOTY Concepcion-Marquez is still a clear front runner for me. Great high intensity back and forth action for all 11 rounds with both guys getting dropped and hurt. Berto-Ortiz was very good, but the second half of the bout featured too many clinches and lacked the action of the first six rounds. Salido-Lopez was very good as well, but it never really stood out to me as a great fight.

Yeah i saw Berto v ortiz but went stale from round 9 to me as someone said the ref was overly involved in breaking up hugs, stale maybe harsh word but some of the energy in the fight seemed to go and it simmered out until the last round.

The fight was awesome toe to toe stuff the stoppage was harsh but lopez had taken alot of punch's and there has to be a rematch
