That's crazy. The LBC Registration Chair can easily have a form filled out and get anyone registered pretty quickly. A shame Gausha didn't get to box.NYboxing wrote:Finals

There aren't always registration people @ the tournaments. Boxers & their coaches should ensure that the boxer is registered & has the passbook.
This also shows that USAB rules were violated by the WSB as all amateur boxers must be registered in the LBC within which they reside. It shows that either Gausha wasn't registered w/ USAB when he boxed for the WSB or as they did w/ most WSB boxers they registered him in the LBC where the franchise was located. If that is the case, then he needed to transfer his membership to the Lake Erie Assoc or box in the GG franchise where he claimed to reside if he did register prior to competing in the WSB in 2011.

I would think that you wouldn't have to change residency (on USAB registration) for the WSB as it is really just a long-format tournament. Most boxers often traveled back home often and I don't think boxers were in the franchise state long enough to claim permanent residency (depends on the state). But if some boxers did register with the local LBC of their franchise, you may be right, they would have to switch back in order to compete in their local gloves. However, most GGs applications require your USAB registration # at the time of registering for the tournament. So, that was the 1st opportunity for it to be flagged, with the draw would have been the 2nd possibly. But as long as he had a sticker, the only person that would have been able to flag that the LBC had no record of that sticker belonging to them would have been the registration chair, who to my point, is the person that could have resolved the issue.Dennis wrote:There aren't always registration people @ the tournaments. I'm of the opinion that if the goal is to get our best boxers in the box offs and on our Olympic team, we have to try to make sure that we do what we can within the rules to make sure that happens. Without knowing all the details, this just seemed like something that could have been avoided if the people in charge wanted him to box.
