It has the potential to be a good fight but this is still a novice bout for the British title. The majority of fights have the potential to be crackers, it doesn't make them ppv worthy though.
Do you think many are going to buy this? Cleverly is still trying to make a name for himself and is pretty much unknown by the general public and i can't see many parting with £15 for DeGale

Mutley never had the best stamina; even when he was at 147, even when he was an active fighter, he was blowing out his arse after 6 rounds against Anderson.G0mez wrote:Mutley was a tremendous force about 5 years ago or so.
But he was absolutely dead at the 140lb weight against Lynes. At 147lb he'd possibly make it competitive somewhat.
he's not been active for the last couple of years, I don't believe he makes even 147 particularly easily as he's a very stocky lad.
i see a rusty, weight-weakened Mutley getting thoroughly schooled, here. with the fact that he has to plant his feet so much, i think he's made to order for gavin's style.

2nd best i've ever seen live mate, after Moore - Rhodes
as much as Mutley was dominating if you watched how he was walking back to/sinking into his stool by the mid-rounds, i had a funny feeling he may get stopped, despite seemingly hurting Anderson with every left hook he threw
in fact my 'funny feeling' was accurate enough that i thought ahead, decided the place would probably erupt if Mutley lost, and positioned myself near the exits just in case
just as well, cos when the mini-riot kicked off i would have been directly between the scots and the Mutley fans

x2. Awesome scrap. Moore vs Rhodes was great as well, but the best of all for me was Moore vs Macklin... was up on my feet going mental during that one!G0mez wrote:Mutley vs Anderson is one of the best fights I've ever seen. I remember it was on a Thursday night on sky.

I didn't say he was a step down from McDonagh, I said he isn't levels above McDonagh. He isn't. What has he done to say he's level's above McDonagh? An English title?fasteddie wrote:your saying steve williams is a step down from mcdonagh? haha i cant wait for this fight to be made cause steve will prove you all wrong, gavin doesnt have the power to hurt steve and as the saying goes you can run but you cant hideJamesH wrote:No offence to Steve Williams who I like and who I know posts here, but I don't think you can say he is levels up from someone like McDonagh. I thought Williams was reasonably fortunate in what was possibly his career best (perhaps second best) win against Grant. Grant's slick style was causing Williams problems so imagine if he'd fought Gavin who really is levels above Grant. Take Lenny Daws, I'd already fancy Gavin to beat him now but I still think Daws would beat Williams if they fought again.
As I said, its nothing personal against Steve but looking at it as a neutral, I'd say hes somewhere between English and British level. Thats an achievement in itself but I don't think he'd get the chance to land much on Gavin if they fought and if he went chasing the big shot he'll just become an easier target. Can see it being a bit of a one sided schooling, like it was when Gavin fought McDonagh, which was my original point.

Mutley would be a easy fight for Frankie, hes a come forward fighter&will play right into Gavins hands..Frankie will look good in outclassing him for a 5-6round stoppage.....but saying that who in the UK could give him a decent fight?? Daws would go the same way as Mutley!! ive never seen Williams fight&to be honest ive hardly heard of him...

I think it will sell.Only today there is a huge picture of Clev taking Gareth Bale on the pads alongside ticket info in the tabloids and DeGale has been on Sky Sports News again all day on the pitch at half time of QPR's live match last night.FW said in saturdays newspaper that tickets are selling "like hot cakes".This is all nearly five weeks out.I am going with a couple of friends and thats a long way to travel for "a novice bout for the British title",thats got to be an oxymoron itself! We all know they are BOTH excellent fights and by the time SKY have finished, everyone else will too.freddydoesdallas wrote:It has the potential to be a good fight but this is still a novice bout for the British title. Good test for Gavin if the fight comes off. Not seen much Muttley lately, but he used to be a dangerous BIG puncher. I can see Gavins speed being far too much for him though

Two fighters with about 20 fights between them is still novice(ish). Where is the pic of Cleverly & DeGale, i haven't seen any on the sport websites today and the gate at QPR is still poor considering where they are. The card needs a lot of promotion as at the minute, the general public aren't really aware of Cleverly, Braehmer & Grovesmickey1975 wrote:I think it will sell.Only today there is a huge picture of Clev taking Gareth Bale on the pads alongside ticket info in the tabloids and DeGale has been on Sky Sports News again all day on the pitch at half time of QPR's live match last night.FW said in saturdays newspaper that tickets are selling "like hot cakes".This is all nearly five weeks out.I am going with a couple of friends and thats a long way to travel for "a novice bout for the British title",thats got to be an oxymoron itself! Its a picture of Gareth Bale being taken on the pads by Cleverley in a two page article on Bale winning the player of the year award the other nght. Its in The Sun,Britains biggest selling daily! DeGale has been on SSN repeatedly all day on the pitch, you know what they are like for repitition! The public are aware of James DeGale MBE and will be even more so over the next few weeks.Same goes for unbeaten friend of Haye Grovesd, the guy who knocked out Hatton (Braehmer!) and Wales' natural successor to Calzaghe. It will do well.Haye-Macca did well at the box-office(ticket wise) and Haye really wasnt a big draw at that time. The fight public will turn out for the real fights.freddydoesdallas wrote:Two fighters with about 20 fights between them is still novice(ish). You have a point, but its the only way the fights are going to happen.I would gladly pay for the card if i wasnt attending. What is PPV worthy nowadays? Hatton-Tszyu and Hatton-Pac were the only ones that i was genuinely intrigued by.I bought loads of the others but had a bloody good idea who was going to win.The two bill toppers are top match ups.DeGale and Braehmer for me.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Braehmer-Cleverly&Degale-Groves are definitly good fights, but PPV worthy no they are not....anyone who buys this are just feeding the money men&they will be expecting it all the time for these fighters...as ive said before i want to see the fights, but il go down my local to watch them,it will cost me more in the long run but its the principle of the matter...

Im the same picks as you...just worried once us the fans start paying it will be the way forward,we pay enough for sky sports as it is without all this PPV bollox,il watch it defo but wont be subscribing myself...Im saying now in are lifetime we will never have a british boxer with the following of Ricky Hatton....mickey1975 wrote:You have a point, but its the only way the fights are going to happen.I would gladly pay for the card if i wasnt attending. What is PPV worthy nowadays? Probably not,but ironically Hatton is the only star to have been brought through exclusively on satellite t.v.Most of the target audience have Sky now, maybe not the types to make a houswives, oap's favourite like Cooper,Bruno and McGuigan but they made Ricky a superstar.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Im the same picks as you...just worried once us the fans start paying it will be the way forward,we pay enough for sky sports as it is without all this PPV bollox,il watch it defo but wont be subscribing myself...Im saying now in are lifetime we will never have a british boxer with the following of Ricky Hatton....mickey1975 wrote:You have a point, but its the only way the fights are going to happen.I would gladly pay for the card if i wasnt attending. What is PPV worthy nowadays? Maybe Hatton never had the public following(casual fans)like Bruno, but we will NEVER hav crowds following a single fighter like the amounts that turned up to support him...mickey1975 wrote:Probably not,but ironically Hatton is the only star to have been brought through exclusively on satellite t.v.Most of the target audience have Sky now, maybe not the types to make a houswives, oap's favourite like Cooper,Bruno and McGuigan but they made Ricky a superstar.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Im the same picks as you...just worried once us the fans start paying it will be the way forward,we pay enough for sky sports as it is without all this PPV bollox,il watch it defo but wont be subscribing myself...Im saying now in are lifetime we will never have a british boxer with the following of Ricky Hatton....mickey1975 wrote: You have a point, but its the only way the fights are going to happen.I would gladly pay for the card if i wasnt attending. What is PPV worthy nowadays?
