Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
Very surprising result this. Watson was a heavy favourite: good thing he was or I would have out some money on him!
Anyone see the fight? I thought he would be able to outbox the tough but somewhat slow of foot Purdy.
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
yeah i had him 4 rounds up but he was getting caught with rights all night fair play to purdy but i think watson wins if theirs a rematch
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
Yeh Watson looked fairly in control but was taking some daft shots, who's to say the rematch wouldn't go the same way? Purdy may have the key to Watson and feel he could do the same again, though obviously Watson might pay him much more respect and be more wary. Just goes to show you shouldn't judge a fighter by his KO record too much as most half-decent fighters can bang a bit if taken lightly enough and allowed to get their big shots off.
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
I've not seen the bout or the finish. Did Watson walk into a hard, flush shot? (I know the result, obviously, but not the circumstances around the ending). Cheers.
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
It was a solid shot, and the fight was rightly stopped in my opinion. Watson looked classy and moved well, but not quite well enough. A short reign for him, but I see no reason why he can't come again.
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
Watson was winning the rounds but Purdy was game the whole way through and was trying to get inside and unload early on. It wasnt until the 5th that he started to set up the straight right with the jab 1-2 a hard shot caught Watson flush on the chin and that was that.

I saw maybe the last 2 rounds behind very sleepy eyes (5am Australia) and Watson looked like he was cruising? Was just a matter of time before that punch landed.

They showed the whole fight on Chinese National TV. So without doubt it would have been the biggest TV audience either figther has ever had!

Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
Was shown live in Singapore too
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
The only exciting fight of the night (it was shown in the UK). Craig Watson was looking the more slick in there and was edging the early rounds IMO, but Purdy wasn't giving him any space and was starting to land more regular when BANG!!! it was all over
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
At last I've found a post on Purdey's win.
Major upset this one. Wouldn't of given Purdey a chance in this one, but now his power has to be respected becuase Watson has proved hard to shift.
Great win for Purdey, never mind world titles, Lee will feel like he has won a world title everytime he looks at that Lonsdale belt.

It was a great fight welter is full of talent
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
Although Watson was winning throughout, it always looked likely - Purdy looked stronger than Craig and looked like he was hurting him with not clean shots. Not wobbling him, but earning his respect as they say. Craig was looking good with his boxing, but never looked comfortable.
Rematch would be great, because Craig won every round up until the point.

Me & lee have traded punches 3 times now. He ain't the hardest of punchers but, my god. Relentless. He really works hard & to beat him you need to be fit as a butchers dog. Well done lee. Fair play
Re: Craig Watson - Lee Purdy: Anyone see?
