Agreed, it is very tough to decide, especially with the likes of Jones Jr & Holyfield, because the longer they stick around, the more they tarnish their legacies, or is it just based on the time they were in their primes?

Mayweather is also a curious one, because he has now become a celebrity boxer who does a lot of talking & a little bit of fighting every now & then.

In terms of overall & current levels of greatness, it has to be Pacquiao, as he is a definite hall-of-famer & still performing at a high level (& still fighting too, Floyd).

Hopkins is the greatest over a long period of time though, so on that basis, it could be him. :)

No fighter tarnishes their legacy by hanging on too long. I don't even get where anyone would think that way. Nobody gives a damn about Ali/Berbick or Duran/Joppy.

I agree... Fighting after your best days and even the end of Autumn (Fall) of your career does not harm your standing.

If Hopkins gets KO'd in the first in the rematch with Pascal it'll make no difference to his standing in my eyes.

People always go on about Roy Jones but he was overrated for too long. You might argue that we now have evidence that he's not that durable but I have reservations over his career as a whole not the fact that he's losing at the tail end of his career.
