Clearly these threads were a joke to highlight the exaggerated dislike of Khan by boxing fans.joelouis1234 wrote:I have to say I'm discusted by some of the 'drivel' 'sour grapes' and libellous threads I've seen posted on here about Amir Khan.Box Rec really need to tighten up their act with regards to censoring what's allowed on here and adhering to certain standards of ethics. To allow threads like 'Amir Khan on a par with Hitler' and 'Khan gives half his purse to Colonel Gadaffi' is not only unethical, but also has legal ramifications with regards to libel, defamation of character and incitement to racial hatred which is illegal in the UK.Amir Khan is British, won an Olympic silver medal for Britain at the age of 17 a tremendous feat for a young person and came back from a terrible KO loss by Breidis Prescott to become a world champion.Let's give credit where credit is due.Khan has shown young people what can be achieved by hard work, discipline and perserverance over advesity ie coming back stronger after his K0 loss.Khan also comes across as very humble and respectful when talking about his opponents and generally conducts himself in a very professional manner.Amir Khan deserves to be applauded for what he represents and has achieved, not hated and slandered dare I state the truth because of his Pakistani origins.Boxing is as a part of sport is supposed to promote International goodwill and cultural understanding between people of different nationalities and races,it would be great if the minority of narrow minded people posting this rubbish about Khan would bear this in mind before deciding what threads to post in future.
Also, just because someone is a cock who people dislike - why do you make the assumption it is because of his race?

There were, quite clearly IRONIC - a PARODY of the attitudes of some people.
That said, even if they were genuine opinions, neither could be classed as racial hatred.

Good morning Amir
Re: Amir Khan represents Britain and is a positive role model
Amir Khan needs to shut the fvck up and just concentrate on boxing. He will never cross over in the UK. He will be remembered only for his boxing and cockiness. Soccer AM would do wonders I think with the average man/PPV buyer, but for that he need to get up Sky's ass. Unlikely after the last fight though.
Re: Amir Khan represents Britain and is a positive role model
He has crossed over in the UK. He is more famous than any other boxer we have and a superstar in the Asian community.carlbcfc wrote:Amir Khan needs to shut the fvck up and just concentrate on boxing. Stop someone in the street and the chances are he is more likely to have heard of Amir Khan than David Haye

David Haye is much more famous than Amir Khan, Khan is not famous and if he were to walk down street minimal amount of people would recognise him and i have a lot of Asian friends and tbh ive never even heard them mention Khan so not much of a superstar there eithergobbles wrote:He has crossed over in the UK. Hatton's gone from Horse's top 30 though so he doesn't count
Re: Amir Khan represents Britain and is a positive role model
Dont be ridiculous, even my nan has heard of Amir Khan, all that publicity he got from the Olympic's, the exposire he got on national television as a novice pro, forever in the national newwspapers! Rightly or wrongly David Haye is no more famous as what Amir Khan is. Also I dont see what the issue of race is that your 'Asian' friends haven't heard of him? So are 'black' people more likely to have heard of Nigel Benn than any other race?Camcas wrote:David Haye is much more famous than Amir Khan, Khan is not famous and if he were to walk down street minimal amount of people would recognise him and i have a lot of Asian friends and tbh ive never even heard them mention Khan so not much of a superstar there eithergobbles wrote:He has crossed over in the UK. Re: Amir Khan represents Britain and is a positive role model
that is stretching it a bit much, though. Firstly, as mentioned, it was made as a JOKE / Parody and secondly, Gadaffi isn't really associated with terrorism much nowadays anyway.joelouis1234 wrote:
to make jokes about a person of Pakistani origin donating money to Colonel Gadaffi an alleged sponsor of terrorism is only adding fuel to the idea that young men of Pakistani/muslim origins are linked to terrorism.
Had people said "Al Queda" then maybe, just maybe, even as a parody thats in bad taste.
However, I'd still disagree that it's a racial comment.

Re: Amir Khan represents Britain and is a positive role model
The reality is Khan may not be a massive favourite of the average football fan like a lot of boxers who have crossed into the main stream. However khan is famous within the average household with non sports fans.gobbles wrote:He has crossed over in the UK. Everyone in britain knows who Khan is and i would say its a very small minority that dislike him.
The issue is the average non sports fan doesnt buy ppv boxing - so unless its a big fight people wont buy Khan fights. For one thing half of them wont have sky.
People never like so called cocky guys until they reach the top if khan does it alot of people will shut up, even though i think he's confident rather than cocky. Also i think some people just dont like him because of his race - who wants people like as a fan anyway.
Either way i think he has been a rolemodel for the youth, shown to be concerned by world events and charity and also been a great advert for british muslims - it says something when americans genuinley like a muslim so he must be doing something very right.
Re: Amir Khan a positive British role model for youth
Khan is very good but is not 'nice' or 'funny' cocky with it. He comes across as arrogant and carries himself above his boxing performances. He is not a 'superstar' in my eyes; that is not racism on my part; a 'Superstar' goes above their particular sport and 'does good' for other causes, not just their own narrow concerns. There are very few 'Superstars' in any sport; Khan is not what I would see as a boxing superstar; (a millionaire boxing champion with massive 'clout' maybe).
It were obvious to just about anyone that the Threads likening Amir Khan to Hitler etc were done in a fashion for amusement; you do your own point of view no favours by attempting to make a very serious point out of an obvious joke.

Re: Amir Khan a positive British role model for youth
Khan has done good for other causes, he paid out of his own pocket to open a boxing gym and community centre to get kids off the streets, he helped with causes following the 2004 tsunami as well as the earthquake in Pakistan a year later, has helped raise money for a firefighter who suffered severe injuries while dealing with an arson attack.simon fox wrote:Khan is very good but is not 'nice' or 'funny' cocky with it. And that's just the ones I'm aware of, yeah he has done stupid things as have all of us at some point but there's no doubt his heart is in the right place.
