YES or NO: Does Haye have final fight before end of Oct?

Post by T.M.K »

Hi all,

very simple really. Haye has always stated not to fight past his 31st birthday this October. Now fighting in July, some 8 months aftre his previous "fight", do we really think he will fight again before the end of October....especially considering that Vitali only fights in late summer and if Haye wishes to finishes his career off against him (or Adfamek, for the WBC title) the earliest would probably be December?

Yes or No..... your view

best wishes,

If he beats Wladimir, then I think he'll be highly unlikely to retire in October. There's be a rematch, a fight against Vitali, which I'm guessing would be essential and would also be huge money (and, just as important for Haye, I suspect, publicity-spinners), as well as a fight against Adamek, which would be a nailed on classic.

If he loses convincingly, he may well have one last fight to say adios, and then go off to be a model or promoter or international playboy, or whatever it is he's got lined up.

I've never believed that Haye was going to retire by October.

Win. lose or draw, Haye is now entering arguably the most lucrative phase of his career.

He's got 2 potential money spinning fights with the fighting doctors.

If he beats Wladimir, there's no way he's going to pass up the opportunity to potentially see off Vitali.

If he loses to Wladimir, I'm quite certain he'd want a rematch & that almost certainly would be after October as most top flight boxers can't seem to be able to fight more than once every 18 months or so.

Haye posted this link on his Facebook page yesterday morning

http://www.examiner.com/boxing-in-natio ... ing-july-2

Haye has continually said he would retire from boxing around October, but I asked if that self-imposed withdrawal goes out the window if he beats Wladimir. Haye corrected my "if" to a "when" and then said, "No, I won't quit then."

Perhaps the biggest single factor in boxer's remaining active beyond their original retirement plans is the "d" word -divorce. Tends to leave you with diminished funds. The tabloids were running stories last week, relevant to this topic in that kind of way... I am a big fan of Haye and I hope the stories were bollox. But in terms of, will Haye fight beyond October or not, boxing might have little sway, compared to, lets say, a possible divorce. Hope its not so.

Too much money to be made to retire at the high of his powers.

I hope he doesn't! Even if he loses to Wlad and Vitali I'd love to see him fight Adamek that fight would be huge the Poles love boxing and they have a fan base here and Stateside.

That's not to say i think he will lose but he has a huge challenge with massive pitfalls but I believe he has solutions to them just using them precisely must be the bloody hard bit

But an Adamek fight would be hugely devalued if both go into it having lost to a Klitschko.

I'm also a fan, but Haye is a 'player' - he's a good-looking lad with money to burn and an eye for the ladies that is well-documented... you do the math!

I've never believed a word of this. Even if the man himself believes it, when it comes around he'll realise he's got at least another five years left if not more and it would be crazy to retire.
