Degale v Froch for World Title
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
Pascal, Taylor, Dirrel, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson and Ward.
All back to back. Seriously, Joe Calzaghe should be ashamed. What fuc*ing balls Froch has shown in his career.
If a Degale fight comes off it'll likely be after Froch has either begun to wane or has finally been chinned. Even then it's not likely.

Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
I thought Froch's lack of speed was noticable against Kessler, thats what lost him that fight.
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
I'm amazed that some are taking this seriously in the present tense... just a couple of random points:
1) Beating Paul Smith does not catapult you into proven world-class, no matter what your potential
2) Speed does not always win you the fight in world-class - if that was the case Howard Davis would have had a career to match Sugar Ray Leonard's....
On a more realistic note, ironically I can seeing this play out much like Calzaghe and Froch i.e. Degale getting a move on and calling out Carl in the next year or so, but Carl being focused on the 'marquee' fights with half an eye already on getting out of the game...

Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
I think Froch is close to retirment... Maybe next year will be the time for him to go?
I guess that leaves a maximum of 4 fights left.
So he will beat Johnson (hopefully)
Then the final against Ward
I'd like to see a rematch against Kessler.
And maybe top it off with a unifcation vcitory over Bute.
Froch will then be an all-time great.![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

Should Joe be ashamed really? Or should Froch's fans just be happy with the fights he has been involved in? Joe did beat Kessler remember, and Hopkins who was controversially held by Pascal.Taylor was sparked by AA who in turn was played with by Dirrell who according to most on here,is crap! He has yet to box Johnson and Ward!charlieb wrote:Pascal, Taylor, Dirrel, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson and Ward.

Both of those killers are streets ahead of the garbage Froch has been fighting lately.
Froch would eat the pair of them for breakfast

Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
Timing, experience and angles can defeat sheer speed. We've all seen boxers who are like lightening bottled who come a cropper when they box someone who knows the craft. Froch lives the life and DeGale has more than enough to worry about next month with Groves. The last time I read an experts poll that was so overwhelming (Boxing Monthly; DeGale v Groves) was Tyson v Holyfield. 2 experts from 31 pick Groves; it was a similar thing with Tyson. The fact that fans are looking past the Groves bout and (apparently) James has knocked back a World Title opportunity does speak of (over)confidence. George has been hit and boxed crap and still won through; we don't know and are only imagining what James will do when the chips are down.boxbet wrote:the one thing i think is lacking from Froch's game is hand speed, He's strong and hits hard but speed wins fights at the very top, not sure if he can create more speed now, but that is his weak point and sumthing he needs to work on.
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
Degale shouldn't go anywhere near Froch. Froch is hard as nails and would hurt Degale IMO.

No,not at all.He should be proud but his fans should learn they dont have to criticize Calzaghe everytime they praise Froch. It happens on here all the time.jameswilson wrote:Yeah Froch should be ashamed shouldn't he.mickey1975 wrote:Should Joe be ashamed really? Yeah Joe should be ashamed of his unbeaten carreer beating Kessler jones hopkins and a prime lacy. What a bum
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
to be fair, Johnson at this point in his career is a better fighter than Jones is. IMO thats a given. Frochs CV from Pascal and on is IMO better than Calzaghe from Lacy to Jones, more quality fighters in there with him, even if he lost to Kessler.

I would put my house on Froch in a Kessler rematch too and hope we get to see it at some point.

I can see the winner of the Super 6 fighting the winner of Bute v Kessler thats being mooted for the autumn. So if Froch can overcome Johnson and the Ward v Abraham winner and Kessler do a job on Bute then we could see the rematch.yiddo14 wrote:This.MatthewS wrote:to be fair, Johnson at this point in his career is a better fighter than Jones is. It may have to take place on neutral territory again tho, I doubt Sauerland will want to do Froch any favours and Froch I would assume will flat refuse Denmark again.

Why would he flat refuse Denmark? There is only him who thought he won. Ward will emerge the last man standing after beating Bute in my opinion.jameswilson wrote:I can see the winner of the Super 6 fighting the winner of Bute v Kessler thats being mooted for the autumn. Man vs Boy IMO!
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
What the hell happened to Froch against Kessler? I thought he was doing a great job of making Kessler miss and countering well for the first 4 or 5 rounds, and then Kessler just seemed to take over and edge the last 7 or 8 rounds without really dominating any of them, even when they were going toe-to-toe.

Obviously there are a lot of unknowns about Degale, but initial impressions suggest his work rate and defence are superior to Froch's (when he was at a similar stage of his career)

It seems clear to me he will never fight in a Sauerland fighters home territory or fight a Sauerland fighter in Germany given how vehemently he refused to fight Abraham in Germany.mickey1975 wrote:Why would he flat refuse Denmark? Yes,i agree. But it does not seem to be based on anything. The Dirrell fight was by far the most controversial of the whole series yet he expects people to come to Nottingham.jameswilson wrote:It seems clear to me he will never fight in a Sauerland fighters home territory or fight a Sauerland fighter in Germany given how vehemently he refused to fight Abraham in Germany.mickey1975 wrote:Why would he flat refuse Denmark? a little birdie told me cleverly boxed degales head off for every round they sparred on one of the 5 days !
Re: Degale v Froch for World Title
DeGale is a SM though, and Clev was likely Cruiser when they sparred I bet. Then again DeGale struggles at the weight don't he.jessi wrote:a little birdie told me cleverly boxed degales head off for every round they sparred on one of the 5 days !
