On Macklins previous form of fights going tits up I wouldn't risk my time or dough, good luck to him though.

Fair play to Macklin for having the balls to step up and take on one of the best in the division. Cudoues, Qudoes..Kewdouse...Well done!

Great road trip to Koln, recommend if you're travelling without the other half that you pay a visit to Pascha:

Great to grab a beer and people watch!!

Not sure he's worthy of the cynicism, but even if he was, surely any cautious matchmaking would have been to guide to a big-money or world title fight, which he now has. What would he back out of this for?

Best of luck to him, really hope he does it but he'll probably need a knock out.

Based on what? Winky Wright pulling out v him, or him sidestepping Khoren Gevor on home soil to face Sturm away.

Totally agree, a few people are being harsh on him here. We should all support him and get behind him for this fight and I hope he comes back with the belt and shuts a few people up. Come on Macklin.

Barker pulled out of one fight actually. And as for a fight with Murray, that was never on the cards. He has got a world title fight, people should be more supportive rather than hating him for the Barker fight not happening.

Spot on this, we are in need of as many world champs as we can get, Macklin is going there so fair play to him for that..

It was only announced once, last September on the Magnificent Seven bill when Barker pulled out.

Previous to that, he pulled out of a European defence against Pirog with a broken nose, and then gave up the European title as part of a deal to get out of his contract with the Hattons.
The Barker pulled out.
It went to purse bids this year, Hennessy won but didn't announce a date and Macklin took the Winky Wright fight. Ironically, as Barker has now left Hennessy, I wonder if he would have pulled out.
