A showdown between Timothy Bradley and Amir Khan for THE RING junior welterweight championship could be announced as soon as next week, Bradley’s co-promoter said.

Alex Camponovo of Thompson Boxing Promotions said all sides have agreed to a deal.

“I hope it can be announced in about a week or 10 days,” he said.

Camponovo said the site of the fight has not been determined, although he expects it to take place in either Las Vegas or at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Bradley (27-0, 11 knockouts) defeated Devon Alexander by a 10th-round technical decision in his last fight, in January. Alexander couldn’t go on after an accidental head butt.

Khan (25-1, 17 KOs) also is coming off a technical-decision victory, in the sixth round over Paul McCloskey on April 16 in Manchester, England. McCloskey suffered a cut above his eye from an accidental head butt.

The fight also would unify three titles. Bradley holds the WBC and WBO 140-pound belts. Khan is the WBA titleholder.

we could shortly have 2 unified, undisputed, ring magazine champions from our shores. (or 2 brittish fighters with sore faces and no titles of course)

good news if it happens, it's the biggest fight out there for him and will be a huge match up

It'll be a terrifically competitive fight between two of the fighters with the highest punch outputs in boxing, and I can see both men being dropped or in trouble during the course of the fight; however, I see Khan just having enough to eek out a close victory.

If he's one percent below peak, though, Bradley will run him down.

Whichever way it goes, though, it'll be a terrific fight, in my view, because, as I said, both men have high punch outputs, both men have strong boxing games, but with contrasting styles, both men will come in, I hope, fit and prepared, both men can be vulnerable, and it'll be for the number one slot in one of boxing's hottest divisions.

I didn't think Khan looked sharp after the first two rounds of the Maidana fight, but I agree with the rest of your post.

i used to lean towards Bradley in this fight. But now im not so sure, its 50/50. I think win or loose kahn is going to be one of, if not the dominant force in boxing over the next decade

Not sure about that. Any fighter can be ko'd and put it down to a mistake but if Khan was to lose this one over 12, i think the very elite fighters would be able to use it as a blueprint in the future.

I know Amir's had a load of (IMO unwarranted) stick on here lately, but you've got to respect his willingness to be tested and fight the best.

Maidana and Bradley were the 2 fighters I though wouyld cause Amir the most problems at 140 and he's fought or is fighting both in a 3 fight period.

It is definitely a pick'em fight when you look at it as you make strong arguments for both of them, but I can Amir Khan winning if get's made as he has got the handspeed and power and will be looking to prove a point after his unconvincing performance against Paul McCloskey.

It depends on your definition of undisputed. If Froch wins the Super Six there will still be two other title holders-Bute and Stieglitz (or if they lose, whoever beats them). If you are talking about Ring Magazine champions, then yes, there could be three, unless The Ring makes the decision not to award the title in those cases. If Bute actually fights and beats Kessler before the end of the SS, there is a good chance he would be ranked #2, which would leave Froch in the #3 position going into a bout with presumably Ward.

I think their rule is that if a title is vacant, the winner of a fight between the #1 and #2 (or in some cases #1 and #3, like Wlad v Chagaev) would be awarded the belt.

This is why I usually look upon their titleholder as the best, cos to get to #1 or #2 in their ratings you have to have beaten some good fighters. Not just have a promoter who slips the XZY president a fiver to be named mandatory challenger.
