Where will we see these gents?

The Lions song is fckn awful. It's embarrassing. They should can it altogether or replace it with 'In the jungle, the mighty jungle'

Could have saved alot of money (I have heard someone was paid £25, 000 to write that song) and stuck to the old song about the chariots or Jarusalem or Land of Hope and Glory.

£25, 000 for a gay song that none of the singers chosen can sing properly, for those who haven't heard lets put it this way - its got to have been written by a woman or someone on hellium.

Well safe to say we got our asses kicked. Clive needs to stop being so biased and pick a better team.

it was awful I agree that more welsh lads should be playing, too english and too old as one of the papers said, but I have to say on that peformance, we dont have the players to beat them. (stu / coconut you called it and you are right I let my passion get in the way of my subjectivity, whichj i usually do to be fair!).

that was a mauling, if it had been dry we would have lost by 40.

it was as abject a performance as Ive ever seen from a lions side.

Its not even like they sticked to the gameplan, if anyone can explain to me why when we blatently picked a kicking side, we started running tap penalities and cross field kicks when points were on offer and in that weather? use your effin brain lads.
Leaderless, under cooked and f*cking woeful.

guess i was always hoping against hopes but the bottom line is we simply arent good eoough to live with them. You can blame woodward as much as you like but if the players underperform as badly as they did on Sat it doesnt make any difference how you coach em.

of course he has made mistakes but the players have to take some responsiblity that was not acceptable as professional sportsmen. If i performined as bad as that in my job id be sacked.

was a disgrace,

new team selection for next test

1. Sheriden
2. Thompson
3 Jenkins
4. O connell
5. owen or corry
6. Ryan Jones
7. Lewis moody /M williams
8. Owen or corry
9. Peel
10 Hodgeson (if you are going with form he is the only fly half who has challenged the gain line)
11. thomas
12. henson
13 Lewsey (best / only strike runner we need to get the ball to him)
14. S williams
15 Murphy.

we will still get stuffed but we might actually play some rugby.

saturday was tragic.

but i gotta say well done to the all blacks, they were so good it was scary. in every facet of the game. Apart from the fact, they out run, out jumped, out skilled, outtackled, out kicked, out everything'd us, it was a close

its terrible an Aussie cvan wear the prestigous lions shirt with no claim to being a Brit other than he lived in wales for 3 years.

its not cockbains fault but i think its a travesty.

Agreed. I also fail to see why anyone needed to be called up. Plenty of cover out there already. Too much, in fact. Players aren't getting enough game time, both individually and in units. Rapidly becoming a total shambles.

Utter ruddy shambles. It was all I could do to soldier on and drink myself silly. And still made the Gatti fight...

Clueless, lacking in cohesion, lacking in leadership, lacking command from the 2-8-9-10-15 spine.

I know the leadership thing is understandable, but in 97, Johnson had Wood up front and Gibbs out back (and a back line of spunky characters). Even Thomas played without much clue on Saturday. His being made captain is good for the Welsh but realistically this side needs its pack to front up and take them on, and Thomas can't exhort that as well from the wing. Dallaglio's a huge, huge loss.

Fair play to the ABs, they thoroughly deserved that win.

Woodward was the obvious choice as a coach but given his crowning glory took years and years to achieve, in retrospect he may not have been the best choice for a scratch side. 'Judge me on the World Cup' was something he said in in 97 about the 99 World Cup, let's not forget...

Can't argue much with that side, J. I hope Clive's arrogance doesn't stop him admitting he got it wrong and bringing in lots of new blood. Most of the guys who played Saturday looked like they had no idea how to win. ABs line not even threatened, and this with the ABs working well as a unit but only a few players having really standout games - and their back row (well, So'ialo and maybe Collins) were quite quiet.

Cleverly, seeing as how he looks to have dropped Robinson, he's starting him next match with Cueto, a potential solution, kicking his heels yet again. I've mentioned this before but I'll just clarify that I rate Cueto but I'm not a huge bandwaggoner - his treatment has been symptomatic of Woodward's tendency towards preconception over proof.

And now Jason White gets the call. Should have been there in the first place. Like quite a few of these replacements. By the third test we might actually have the right team out there....

I do agree, Cockbain is a fine player but what is the point in calling him up now - he is bench warming on Tuesday so will hardly make an impact for the tests.

With Shanklin and O Driscoll gone, it is centres that need to be called up. Henson is nursing an injury (plus lots of rumours of him going off the rails this week). So I think Henson's exclusion from the team doesn't mean he is a definate starter next week.

This may be somewhat off-topic off-topic, but that Charlotte Church looks like she'd go like a broken gate in the wind.

Thomas has to play centre, you can't captain effectively from wing or full back.

Lewsey is also a half-decent centre, and it'd be good to see him with a bit more ball. That said, that would probably mean Horgan in on the wing, which would be a travesty of similar proportions to John Hayes now being John Hayes, British Lion.

Jason White is called up now.

51 players.

One question.

Why.

Second question.

Umm Colin Charvis?

I watched the match Saturday with a couple of Welsh boys. They told me that McCaw had said that Charvis was his most difficult opponent and they were advocating Woodward swallowing his pride and starting him for the second test. He's been unlucky, but on the plus side at least we're onto our 43rd choice back row forward and Joe Worsley isn't there yet.

The selection doesn’t matter too much sadly…. So a lot of this is pointless debate. One thing people seem to forget is that the All Blacks are better regardless.

The Lions just aren’t good enough. Be it your 15, my 15, or whatever sodding 15 Woodward puts out, he doesn’t have the players, or at least, the players in form.

All this rangling over who should comprise the pack..and how many celts to shove in the backs. It doesn’t matter. McCaw and Collins absolutely OWN the Lions at the breakdown, Carter is too clever, McDonald reads the game too well at full-back, Williams & Jack OWN the lineout, and Umaga breaks the gain line too easily.

The selection doesn’t matter. All Blacks will win the series 3-0.
