I cannot think of one single fraction of an aspect in which Airich has even a fraction of a chance at a fraction of success.
Seconded. Whoever draws him for the first round will be laughing....

We all know how conditioned your average heavyweight is, so i think anyone securing an early ko in the first round gets an absolutely huge advantage, more so than at the other weights.

This is why until the draw is made i think anyone can win it, even Airich who didn't impress me one bit in the sole performance of his that i saw

It's also why i'm not keen on probable favourite Kevin Johnson, who due to his style will likely have to fight 9 rounds to win it

Airich was in a similar tournament (Bigger's Better) just the other week and lost in the semi-finals despite it being populated by novices and him being the only one of any discernible pedigree.

If there are no pull outs, then I think the winner is due a title shot or at least a final eliminator.

A World title?! I don't think one of them has beaten a top 20 opponent in their career, bar Gomez a decade ago as a cruiser (Does a 40 odd year old McCall count?). And possibly Sprott vs Williams and Skelton but that's pushing it

Juan Carlos Gomez is currently ranked 9th at Heavyweight by the WBC. So potentially, the winner could well find himself in the top ten.

This hopefully is the start of a revolution in boxing, with fringe world scene fighters scrapping it out and potentially earning themselves a crack at a World Title with a good showing. Add the fact it is on NORMAL SKY! What value for money! Well done Matchroom! :TU:

I wonder how much the fighters are really getting paid. Does anyone the correct figures?

Yeah, I should probably have explained that a post in which I picked every single fighter to win the overall tournie using various parts of my body was made purely in jest and wasn't an actual prediction.
Quite aware of the humorous tinge, Terence, but it could well have been a jocular way to indeed say that everyone has a chance.

If johnson can adapt to the 3 rounds then I think he'll have to much class and win handily. Otherwise Perez's style should suit it. Should be a good night either way.

Thats a great draw for TYE FIELDS especially to keep away from Perez, Oquendo and Johnson till final. Oquendo vs Perez is a real 50/50 for me but i'm just leaning towards Fres.

Semi's for me are:

Oquendo vs Johnson
Fields vs Gomez

Final:

Johnson vs Fields.

After the draw i'm still favouring Perez, think Sprott has a decent shot though.

Only a week away, odds should be available soon

Agree these fighters are miles away from world title fights - Kevin Johnson disgraced himself in a world title fight and Gomez has looked terrible of late. However, I think Oquendo has top 20 names on his resume - albeit a long time ago - Etteine, Izon, Harris were top twenty fighters when they fought - and he was unlucky against the likes of Toney, close against Holyfield and if memory serves me - close against Byrd for the title. Didn't people think he did enough to win that fight?

Just curious why you favor Perez. He has never competed with fighters anywhere near the likes of Sprott, Oquendo, Johnson, Gomez, etc.

This is true, but he has beaten everyone put in front of him and you can't ask much more than that. The few fighters that have taken him the distance haven't won a single round against him.

He had terrible trouble with injuries too which i'm sure is the reason for his slow progress.

I do have to admit to some bias though, as i got to know him a little bit and see him up close in training when he was in Newcastle with McCrory, and i was very impressed with what i saw, so much natural ability.

One criticism i will throw his way is that he gets very frustrated when he can't blast them out early which could be dangerous in this format.

(Hope Sprott wins it though, just wish he'd have had at least a little 8-rounder or something since winning the last edition).

Shame he is out but more a shame for his loss, very close to the guy who has died, Kept Fres from so much early in his teens I believe, He really fancied the job and I hope
he can bounce back, he has been on the end of so many bad decisions, perhaps his connections with Haye can get him some opportunites and some well earned luck
