Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
I don't know if Simon is still in jail or not.
Lamar Parks tested HIV positive. Not sure what he is doing now.
I'm not too proud to admit that I've never heard of Antonio Perugino.

Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Ev'ry time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away

I am in touch with Lamar on a pretty regular basis...we fought as amateurs and sparred as pros and have kept in touch all these years...he's still in S.C. and is training boxers down there...

Yeah, Lamar got found out when he took the test for the McClellan fight...I'll say this, I have sparred HUNDREDS of boxers in my time in the ring and no one , pound for pound or punch for punch, hit as solidly as Lamar...HEAVY hands!

How do you think Lamar Parks would have fared against Gerald McClellan if they had fought at the time?ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY wrote:Yeah, Lamar got found out when he took the test for the McClellan fight...I'll say this, I have sparred HUNDREDS of boxers in my time in the ring and no one , pound for pound or punch for punch, hit as solidly as Lamar...HEAVY hands!

Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Lamar could box well when he had to and I know for a fact he had EXTREMELY HEAVY HANDS...Also, for what its worth, Roy Jones Sr. once told me that he thought Lamar was going to poutbox Gerald...remember, Ralph Ward and Dennis Milton both outboxed and outslicked him as pros...his power couldnt find them...
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
HINTON RETIRED DUE TO RELIGOUS BELIEFS
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Our own Homicide Henry appears to have disappeared too.
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Diagnosed with epilepsy around that time, and if memory serves retired to get out of a contract with Warren. Warren ended up sueing him for libel which Marsh won. In between all this someone shot Warren, Marsh did 10 months on remand (think its jail to the yanks) but got off at the trial.BarryWashington wrote:bump:

Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Surely he retired because the board does not allow boxers with epilepsy to fight. It wasn't his choice, he couldn't get a licence.@matt___s wrote:Diagnosed with epilepsy around that time, and if memory serves retired to get out of a contract with Warren. Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Im hazy on the details but im sure part of the court case was him unretiring... maybe it was the epilepsy but the way i was told the story first time is that the epilepsy was feigned to get out of the warren contract... Some guys who were coming up and fell short.
Tukumbo Olajide. Didnt he go back to playing the sax?
Panchito Bojado. I know he ate himself out of fighting, but what has he been doing?

Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Can never get an answer as to what has happened to Yuri Romanov?
Such a gifted fighter, world class, no one seems to know what has happened to him.
Daley Ojuederie? He seemed to have some good talent.

Whatever happened to Masao Oba, the former world fly champ. I know he died but was it from his boxing fight? What were the circumstances behind his death?
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
and Jeff Merritt.
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Ohba died from a car accident in Tokyo while he was still WBA flyweight champion. As I recall, it was a head-on collision.darren_simion wrote:Whatever happened to Masao Oba, the former world fly champ. I know he died but was it from his boxing fight? What were the circumstances behind his death?
Re: What Happened To Them/Where Are They Now
Merritt had a brief comeback after he got out of prison in 1976, and then got involved with drugs. For a time, he was living on the streets in Las Vegas, panhandling outside the big Don King promotions as King's "first fighter." (He would rant to people attending a fight that King screwed him out of his purses, and would then ask for a hand out.) I had read that he eventually got cleaned-up and is now living with his family back in Ohio. I hasten to add that my info is hearsay and scuttlebutt.Brutu wrote:and Jeff Merritt.

Someone mentioned on another forum that Albert"Turkey"Thompson(born 1919) had passed away a few years ago in Los Angeles California, but one would think that
the details would be better known and even recorded somewhere.
