Agreed - I've said a million times on here, if Barry Hearn could have been arsed, he'd have been the biggest promoter in Europe years ago. Too busy with darts and snooker...and look at what he's done for them.

Go on Eddie you handsome basta*d

Class act, always have been, good to see them interested to this degree once more — and with such a drop-dead gorgeous frontman!

That said, can't help but feel gutted for Mick in all this. The fella did everything right for so long, and his own way, but then ITV posted that massive loss, boxing was among the cuts, Mick found himself on the outside of the Sky loop and it all fell apart, with others picking up the pieces.

As pleased as I am to see Matchroom firing on all cylinders again, I'd be just as pleased to see Mick Hennessy find a way back, the fates haven't been kind to him.

Hearn's change of tack with snooker has been absolutely inspired. At first I was against the changes - all this 'let's get the boys on the beize' shite, but actually, now I'm all for it, he's improved the fusty presentation no end. Plus increasing the number of events and changing the ranking system so people cannot just sit on their ranking until the end of the year - very clever stuff.

Now if his son can do the same - then boxing can only benefit.

So Carl thinks the Hearns would have got the Kessler fight in Nottingham? A bit of a swipe at Hennessy there.

Totally agree on Mick. He's been excellent IMO, but events conspired against him.

Matchroom are putting a nice stable together, the credit has to go to Gorgeous Eddie :TU: Keep up the Good Work!!

What Hearn has done to darts is pretty incredible too - getting punters out midweek to watch the premier league is nothing short of amazing. He has effectively doubled the earnings of some of the top players.

On the subject of Mick Hennessey, who does he have left now? I know he bid £300K for the Fury/Chisora fight, but I can't see allegedly letting that happen.

I feel bad for Hennesy, I thought he did a great job with the best that he had.

Used to love his adverts in BN

With the stable building up as it is, I wouldn't be surprised to see Matchroom trying to get in on some Magnificent 7 style PPV action.

Shame Froch has to still mention Calzaghe in his press releases. He should emphasise the great fights/opponents he has had lately.

Yeah I hoped that was a tounge-in-cheek comment but I doubt it.

Potentially he could fight Johnson and Ward in the super six. Then he can choose from Kessler/Bute/Pascal/Hopkins for his next couple of fights and then potentially Cleverly/Groves/DeGale further down the road. Whilst it would be huge, I don't think Froch needs Calzaghe the same way he did before Joe retired.

Does anyone know for sure if Primetime have Super Six exclusivity in the UK or not?

I think on the whole its a good move, cannot blame Froch. I don't like the timing of it and this is quite inconsitent with the statements he made when parting with Mick. He stated that he has his next two fights planned out, so doesn't need a promoter - now we hear Matchroom first fight with Froch is the Johnson one.

I'm loving this Matchroom revolution also, I do hope the Prizefighter thing dies down and we can get to the 12 round stuff. If he can bring in the publicity he has for the Darts -then it can only be good for the game.

However, I'm sure Eddie and Barry must be thanking their lucky stars that they will be getting a slice of the pie on a fight that has already been set, with US TV already on board, venue arranged, purses agreed before coming on board. Nice work if you can get it.

Froch make a new reference to Calzaghe and a continued dig about travelling. Froch has the balls the size of coconuts - no dispute there, but he is really sounding like a broken record now about the travelling. He didn't complain when he won, although he is complaining about a NEUTRAL venue. Give Calzaghe some dues, I didn't hear him once moan about fighting Hopkins abroad - it was long overdue but he could have used it as a reason why the fight was close.

Glyn, top post again on Hennessy - I completely agree. Froch becoming champ was a big part of the downfall on the relationship with ITV. I do think the timing of this isn't great, it should have been done AFTER the Super 6.

Good news for boxing that Matchroom are committing to the sport but concerning Froch A fight with Johnson in Atlantic City and then a fight round Wards house are two which Carl could look less than stellar in and wont help to build up his public profile in Britain to a PPV star at this stage of his career. A rematch against Kessler could be big over here due to the Calzaghe link.

Great news for me, Matchroom on their way to becoming the top promoters in the country which is good for the sport and the fans. Lets hope they put on good shows and we all get to watch them as well.
