I genuinely feel for the guy his promotional career seems to be a string of failiures. When you can't get the most exciting man in British boxing on the TV in any description something is seriously wrong.
Re: More bad news for Hennessy as he loses out on Fury v Chisora
He's been frozen right out; he could have a prime Sugar Ray Robinson and the TV executives wouldn't give him a meeting.

Agree with the latter but the former is harsh, Irish Jazzy.Jeff Thomas wrote:I genuinely feel for the guy his promotional career seems to be a string of failiures. When you can't get the most exciting man in British boxing on the TV in any description something is seriously wrong.
He's managed to get deals with both BBC and ITV (OK, they didn't last) but has guided Froch and Witter through the titles to the top...

Mate I could not agree more, from what I can see the board is in the pocket of another promoter.simon fox wrote:He's been frozen right out; he could have a prime Sugar Ray Robinson and the TV executives wouldn't give him a meeting.
and the whole Sky TGV thing smelled really bad also, I think other promoters fuked it up and ruined it for Froch/Hennesey
all that crap about not being able to fit froch into their schedule was lies PURE LIES.
Sky are scum...sun human scum.
I hope Mick Hennesy comes back from this and kicks some ass, though I fear he's got a steep climb.

Would you feel sorry for Warren if it was happening to him?

Yeah true Ian. Maybe a little harsh.

Yes, and on more than one occasion for them both, securing world title fights immediately after losing their title. Plus Howard Eastman.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Agree with the latter but the former is harsh, Irish Jazzy.Jeff Thomas wrote:I genuinely feel for the guy his promotional career seems to be a string of failiures. Henessy has a strong relationship with the WBC - even Witters last fight would have meant a WBC rating had he won.
Plus all except for one of Froch's world title fights have been on primetime US TV on a big network - that aint bad.
Re: More bad news for Hennessy as he loses out on Fury v Chisora
No; he's been at the very top too long and has long been the 'Big Boss'; he has that bit too much arrogance about him, (IMO).Old bones Ian wrote:Would you feel sorry for Warren if it was happening to him?

Why do you think the board are in another promoters pocket? Hennessy won the bid but obviously hasn't come up with the goods. That could happen to anyone who hasn't got the dough behind them.Jon Saxon wrote:Mate I could not agree more, from what I can see the board is in the pocket of another promoter.simon fox wrote:He's been frozen right out; he could have a prime Sugar Ray Robinson and the TV executives wouldn't give him a meeting.

It is a shame as Mick had a good few fighters on his books, but something is wrong when Froch has failed to get Sky coverage for me and thats not being harsh. If he loses Tyson, then I think he is done and after this that is a distinct posibility.
Re: More bad news for Hennessy as he loses out on Fury v Chisora
With the calibre of fighter he's had in his stable in recent years, the question has to be asked as to why he couldn't secure the big TV deals. Sky want to attract viewers, and to do that you need to show the best fighters. That is more important than any kind of loyalty to other promoters. Business is business. Hennessy had some of the best fighters in Britain. It doesn't really add up.

I don't think Hennessy going to ITV from Sky helped matters plus Sky's schedules are pretty full up with Warren, Maloney, Hatton and Hearn.greenyox3 wrote:With the calibre of fighter he's had in his stable in recent years, the question has to be asked as to why he couldn't secure the big TV deals. I see that Buncey has said on ESB that Mick gave a date and venue but the venue was knocked back and it's nothing to do with money.
Keep battling, Mick!

Why would venue be knocked back?Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I see that Buncey has said on ESB that Mick gave a date and venue but the venue was knocked back and it's nothing to do with money.
