does a fighters pre fight personality affect the fight ?

I was considering this watching the latest max kellerman face off with Hopkins and pascal. Although it looks slightly staged managed and Hopkins in particular looks like he is perfecting fake indignation, it made me think of how a fighters personality, particularly pre fight could affect things on fight night itself.

If you look at mayweather for instance and Hopkins, then compare them to shane mosley, the personalities are completely different and I often look at shane in interviews and he just seems to come across as too nice. Can you remember what oscar was like during the pacquaio fight build up ? He was smiling all the time and whilst that fight was always easy to predict, I dont like it when a fighter seems too happy or calm etc, unless its part of your natural personality or persona like Ali.

I know that ultimately your pre fight stance doesnt really alter a fight, but it does or should act as a way of gaining a slight mental advantage over your opponent......

I always like to watch the pre fight face off's (in case someone sticks the nut in) but I'm not sure you can gauge much from them.

Cassius Clay got right to Sonny Liston with his antics prior to the bout.

I am sure that someones demeanour/confidence and how they act can have an effect on the other fighter. A professional boxer shouldn't really allow themselves to be fronted but it does happen.

I've seen boxers who looked very sure of themselves and full of fire at the weigh in and then in the ring, at the instructions, they have lost it.
