Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Is there any demand here for Paxquiao-Mosley?
I guess that anyone who's awake is probably watching it, but if there are one or two who aren't, I'd be happy to provide. Let me know.

I notice there have been four views on this thread.
If you view it, and want the RbR, let me know. I don't want to do it if nobody wants it.

Yes please Carbo.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
OK, thought folks didn't want one.
Basically, the first two rounds were feeling out rounds. Mosley won two tactical battles: one, he moving to his left, away fro Pacquaio's left, and second, he wasn't being forced back by Manny, which is important, because Paquiao is far, far better moving forward. I scored 1 for Manny and 2 for Mosley (but that could have gone either way).
In the third, Pacquaio upped the pace and knocked Mosley down heavily with a sharp left. Mosley's legs looked very shaky, and I was surprised Manny didn't finish him. The last round, the fourth, had Pacquio chasing Mosley, and although Shane landed some nice counters, and a couple of body shots, it was clearly Manny's round

Difficult round to score, the fifth. Mosley landed a nice right early, but Pacquiao was busier.
Mosley looks to have completely recovered from the KD. He's extremely hard to pin down.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Mosley is making Pacquaio look bad. He's playing a very cute game, clearly frustrating Pacquaio. As soon as Pacquaio ups the pace and throws combinations, Mosley struggles, but he's hanging in just enough to make a fight of it.
He caught Pac with some counter jabs, on occasion. Pac won the round, but it's not the same dominance we're used to.
Crowd boo-ing in parts.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
It seems to me that Mosley is smart enough to hold in there, playing a very cagey defensive game, but doesn't have the reactions or speed to actually pull the trigger on anything major.
Pacquiao doesn't want to jump in and make any mistakes and end up on the end of one of those rights, so it's a boring fight which Pacquaio is winning.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
I don't really know what to say. Same pattern, same things happen. Pacquaio is trying to throw some flurries, but Mosley is showing just enough ring smarts to avoid them. And Manny's not over-committing. Mosley is frustrating and messing, but not winning.
Crowd boo-ed again at the end of that round

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Lots of jeering and booing now in the audience. Pacquaio ups the pace with around the 1.20 left mark, and has some success, troubling Mosley without ever hurting him. Going into the final 30 seconds the crowd are booing again.
Mosley's really frustrating Pac. The commentators are saying that Pac should start throwing caution to the wind. Why? He's winning easily, if not prettily.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Interesting round. Pacquiao was winning easily, and seemed to have upped the pace, but then Pacquaio went down, seemingly from a push, and the ref called it a knockdown. That might have been the worst thing for Mosley, because Pacquaio came back gunning, and I think hurt Mosley a tiny bit with a left that landed at the end of the punch.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Yup, the KD that never was was definitely the worst thing that could have happened to Mosley, because Shane is on the run now. Pacquaio has upped the pace, has started throwing punches in bunches and is dominating. Why didn't he do this earlier, Jim Watt asks.
Mosley in pure survival mode.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Pacquiao pushing and has Mosley struggling again. He lands three big lefts just after the half way mark. One to the head that landed at the end of its arc and so didn't quite have the power, one that went to the bread-basket, and one to the head that looked as if it looked heavier.
Mosley again, just looking to make the final bell. Pacquaio didn't finish.
There you go, all over.
12 10-9 P
So, I score the fight 117-109 to Pacquaio. I think that's the same as Jim Watt.

Judges scorecards:
119-108
120-108
120-107
That's bizarre. Two judges appear to have overruled the referee on the KD. Is that possible?

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
thought pac won every rd tbh.
mosley's output was mediocre.
just didn't let go whatsoever.
obviously bogus knockdown call in the 10th.
just highlights the need for a pac-floyd fight.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
They have to acknowledge the ref's decision but I'm not sure if they MUST give the round to the boxer who scored the kd. Pacquiao dominated Mosley for 2:50 of that round, so perhaps they scored it 10-10 instead. It definitely shouldn't have been 10-8 for Mosley.Carbo wrote:Judges scorecards:

yeah it was all mosley's fault.Carbo wrote:Lots of jeering and booing now in the audience. Pacquaio ups the pace with around the 1.20 left mark, and has some success, troubling Mosley without ever hurting him. Going into the final 30 seconds the crowd are booing again.

so negative.
comparing mosley tonight to the fighter who took on oscar first time was quite sad tbh.
although his bank manager won't be complaining.
Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
Well it wasn't SO dominant a round for Pacquiao -- where he batters the other guy pillar to post and gets a KD against him and then continues to batter him -- to do that, I think.crusader wrote:They have to acknowledge the ref's decision but I'm not sure if they MUST give the round to the boxer who scored the kd. Either way, a dominant performance.
Now for the real fight: McGuigan vs Nelson. I swear, those two probably argue over which brand of coffee they have in the studio.

further proof he's stuck in a permanent 1985.Carbo wrote:Now for the real fight: McGuigan vs Nelson. I swear, those two probably argue over which brand of coffee they have in the studio.

Like when a knockdown is ruled as a slip.

Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
I noticed the crowd reacted to a replay within the arena between rounds. Could that have altered the judges scoring?
Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
They must have overruled it because Pacquiao would be fighting for a losing 10-9 not a 10-10.
Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
That's what I have always thought as well, but does it say somewhere in the rules that the fighter who scores the KD MUST win the round if they are not knocked down or deducted a point?Scottrf wrote:They must have overruled it because Pacquiao would be fighting for a losing 10-9 not a 10-10.
Maybe someone more familiar with the rules can clear this up.
Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
I am familiar with the rules, just a share almost no judges or fans are. Unless they thought it should have been a 10-8 Pacquaio round otherwise.
Re: Pacquiao - Mosley Round-by Round
A judge cannot say "I thought that 'slip' should've been ruled a kd so I am going to score the round as if a kd was actually counted." If the judges in tonight's fight scored the round 10-10 they would still be acknowledging the ref's decision by scoring the round even when Pac dominated all but ten seconds of it, but they would be breaking the convention (or perhaps even the official rule) of scoring such a round 10-9 for the fighter who was credited with the kd.JDC wrote:But does that work the other way?crusader wrote:They have to acknowledge the ref's decision but I'm not sure if they MUST give the round to the boxer who scored the kd.
