Judges scoring in Germany (Sylvester v Geale Soiler)

Thank god Geale scraped through against Sylvester last night. It was a split decision. Quite how it was given a splt decision is beyond me. Geale won the fight clearly.

However, look at the judges scorecards.

Berit Andreasen 110-118 | Steve Epstein 118-110 | Marcus McDonnell 118-112

How can one judge give it 118-110 for Gale (Epstein) and then some other judge (a woman by the way) gives it 118-110 to the home fighter??? It stinks and needs to be looked into. She either does not know her arse from her frying pan when it comes to boxing, or something more sinister is going on. Marcus McDonnell was on the money for me, although maybe a little harsh on Geale.

This is the sort of thing that makes people talk negatively about our game. You are completely right with what you say, Geale was a tidy winner, the rounds were competitive but he had the edge in almost all of them in my book. Unfotunately I don't think it is that she does not know what she is watching, it is simply what happens.

If Geale has got to give him a rematch then he needs to make sure its perhaps American judges or a split with an Aussie.German and a US or such like because next time they will shaft him for sure

its a shame but we almost take no notice of it anymore because it is so frequent and its not just Germany by any stretch of the imagination, its the sport in general that has to try and force this type of crap out of the game.

Geale was great I was really chuffed for him.

It was a competitive fight and to say that the 118-112 card was harsh on Geale is pretty mind boggling to me. There is no way he won at least ten rounds beyond question. A lot of his shots were being blocked and SS was more effective at times, although less busy. Even all of the Aussies on the forum managed to give SS at least four rounds and no one on this forum who has posted their score had it any wider than 116-112. I do, however, agree with the OP that something was seriously wrong with that judge who had SS winning 10-2. That is a completely unjustifiable score. No matter where in the world fights take place, it seems there is always one card that makes you say wtf. Thankfully the right man took it this case, but it doesn't seem to work out that way very much.

How many times has incidents like this happened in Germany. This happens frequently. SS should have lost his title to Roman Karazin but he managed to scrape a draw. I don't know who is behind it this crap be it the promoters actually having some sort of influence or the actual judges because this crap happens very regularly.

I totally agree with this, and for this reason I'd give more rnds to SS. Someone can pepper shots all night, but if none of them are point scoring blows, then what's the point?
