Harris v Maussa

Did anyone see this result coming? Maussa by 7th round ko, I don't think that Harris could have prepared any worse than he did, he looked knackered at the end of the second round.

Also i don't think i have seen a fighter at this level with worse skills than Maussa, the only thing he's got is a good chin, If i was Hattons manager you've got to be looking at getting a match with Maussa, he would get detroyed by Hatton.

Apparently there was a rematch clause in the contract so Harris might get another chance, but Harris has probaly blown a Million dollar fight by not winning last night.

Was Harris v Maussa upset of the year? got to stand a chance i think

Upset of the year, I think so by some way.

Honestly I think this upset is comparable to say if Maurice Hope had beaten Wilfredo Benetiz or Colin Jones beat Don Curry.

Sure, Harris is no Benetiz or Curry, but then Maussa is no Jones or Hope either.

Huge upset biggest I have seen in a title fight for a long time

I also think that Maussa looked a bit of a nutter, did you see the way he tried to punch Harris when he was down. he also had some very strange moments in the fight when he just walked around, then tried touching gloves with harris as if to apologise

Maussa was a tough guy but a bit of a clown, i thought it would be mismatch early on as Maussa looked poor, cannot believe Harris wasso unprofessional to come in out of shape. It was strange as this was the guy who got into prime condition and went over to Germany to beat the world class megas awkward Urkal twice. Where does Harris go from here?

Downhill most likely. Urkal is really just fringe world-class to be honest, a good boxer but not much power.

I read in an article that even though he was knocked out, Harris still stated that he was the best jr. welterweight in the world...talk about denile!

Urkal still gave Tszyu a few problems and was a good boxer, for Harris to do him in Germany twice and then lose to this none entity Maussa who had no basic ability was terrible.

The rematch clause has been mentioned, but I wouldn't be banking on anything if I was Harris. By all accounts, he's been a nightmare to deal with throughout his career, so are people really going to go out of their way to help him now he needs them?

Maussa surely isn't: He hit the jackpot by picking up the belt, and surely even he knows that he's unlikely to be headed for a lengthy reign. He's going to want some decent cash..... And he's not going to get that against Harris, who'd struggle to draw curtains.

Now, I'm not questioning the integrity of the WBA (ahem). But should, say, team Hatton find the right money for a unification fight, then I think it's safe to say it's bye-bye Vivian as far as that belt is concerned, regardless of anything he's been told.

Urkal at his best was one of the best in the world, certainly not "fringe world class" in my opinion.... I thought Harris was lucky to get the decision first time round, however he stopped Urkal 2nd time which i thought was very impressive.... so to say i am surprised is a somewhat understatement.... Forrest V Mayorga all over again

Fair enough, but just remind me again which world-class fighters he has beaten. I'm always a bit cautious about rating fighters too highly based on good losing efforts.

I dont know what Viv was thinking but jeez, Manny Steward doesnt impress me one bit. All this talk before the fight of trying to make Vivian into a "pressure fighter" and all that b.s. It totally backfired on him. I know Mannys a big fan of the hitman, and knows his style is a winner with the crowds but you dont try and make a tall rangy fighter into a pressure fighter.

Vivian to me sounded nervous and far too eager to impress and hopefully this fight will serve as a wake up call for him. He either comes back and ko's this guy or he fades away. I think he should ditch Manny tho, and get with a trainer who will make sure hes in top condition every time, and actually utilise his assets.

Poor guy, no-one wanted to fight him before and they definitly wont want to now.

Ricky hatton is good at what he does, you dont see him coming out rolling his shoulder ala mayweather, and you dont see floyd rushing in and pounding to the body all night. Vivian should stick to what hes good at and not try to become a wild man just to garner a few fans.

That Maussa dude is funny though, I love when Vivians on the floor and he runs over and totally goes for Vivs head only to hit the rope. THe man is class.

I bet Maussa has a busy phone line today, evryone has got to be wanting to fight him.

Do you think Warren is interested in getting a fight on between him and Hatton? Would make him a double world champion.
I also think Hennessy will be looking to get Witter a shot at Maussa as well.

Can't remember seeing such a poor excuse for a "world champion" in a looooong time. Defintely do not want to see this guy in with Hatton - it'd be like a session on the heavy bag for Ricky - a real horror show.

The first decent contender will relieve this guy of the title - let's hope that happens, and fast.

Vivian Harris - what a waste. So much for the genius of Manny Steward. He's forever talking himself up, but where the hell was he Saturday night?

Turns down a 1/4 mill payday for Harris - puts him in with a couple of fights that earn him nothing ( his words ) then forgets to get him in shape to boot.

What a disaster.

Its far worse than Forrest vs Mayorga, at least Mayorga was a champion going into that fight - Maussa had lost 2 of his last 3.
