July 23rd Dawson Vs Waters, Bryant Vs Piper

Post by Sweet P »

It looks like another great card being put together by Ty Colman. 2 great fights to headline the card, also young Luke Sharpe making his Pro debut. Luke was a really good amature and should progress well into the pro ranks.

Nice work Ty.

Dawson v Waters will be an interesting match to see where both guys are at.

Bryant should handle Piper with ease.

Piper has to get past Broadhurst first.

I doubt it will matter will it, he is just there to make up the numbers... so long as he makes weight he'll fight I reckon.

I agree, Dawson vs Waters should be a good fight.

Bryant should beat Piper comfortably, I'd actually prefer to see him against Waters and hope he'll step up soon and hopefully go interstate (which he has so far managed to avoid in his 16 fight career. I know he reckons he was robbed a couple of times in the amateurs when he fought interstate).

Im not sure he needs to go east. If he can get the better opponents to come over here and fight, there's no need for him to fight anywere else. CDL promotions are puting on 3-4 shows a year. so he can fight fairly regulary.

I think piper is a good test to see were Robbie is at.

Really looking forward to this night. Should be a great night at what is fast becoming a pretty popular venue (Green machine, Forsyth and now CDL).
I think Piper will be a test for Robbie and CDL have done well to get Waters over here against Daniel. A must win for Dawson if his career is to go much further i think.
Has an opponent for Letizia been named ??

I suppose you're right. I just think at 32 he should be trying to get a move on, and I'd really like to see him against a higher level of opposition - I was very much looking forward to him fighting Talipeau when it was first posted. This said, I agree that fighting Piper should be a gauge of where he is right now - if he wants to go places he need to either stop Piper or win a wide decision.

dawson will have to improve on his last outing to get over Waters, but I am confident he will. The dawson who fought LeHoullier will have a very good chance against Waters.
Piper and Bryant is a tough match up and by no means a cake walk for Robbie. I think Robbie's relentless pressure should eventually wear Piper down. Well matched fights though.

Mate i was there and what an absolutely sensational night or professional boxing. Excellent match making and as importantly (more important actually) was the brilliant judging.

I was ringside and Jeremy Allan looked out of sorts against his opponent. I gave Allan one round, which couldve have gone either way. Other than that it was clear loss.

Dawson had a very well credentialled opponent who came to fight. i had Daniel winning most of the first 7 rounds and then Virgil came on strong. A draw is a just decision. for Daniel it should be looked at as "the one that got away" and for Virgil he will be pissed off he didnt start a bit quicker.

Letizia was on fire. My worry was that he would gas in the later rounds, and how wrong I was.A great win for the war horse.

Bryant v Piper started as I expected. Styles make fights and sometimes they are ugly. It was going to be close from the outset depending on who you thought landed the effective punches. I only stayed for the first 4 rounds as my 6 year old was a zombie by midnight. Sounds like it was a very close fight with two judges seeing one person as the aggressor and landing the most, or the other.

CDL promotions have cracked the big time, if they hadnt already. Its a pity some of these cards cannot get television exposure so those on the east coast know what we are carrying on about. Well done to all involved, promoter, fighters, judges and the sell out crowd !!!
