Hamburg hotels

Post by WestEndRiot »

I know there's a few Haye Klit threads knocking about and this has been mentioned by one or two people already, but i thought i'd start a thread so we can find out where everyone is staying, and for those of us that haven't booked hotels to get some advice on the best place to stay. Close to the arena? City centre? How easy is it to get from one place to the other etc

Like all big German cities, Hamburg has an excellent U-bahn and S-Bahn system, so getting around is easy. Airport to the city centre is 25 mins direct on the S-bahn, trains every ten minutes.

As Gobbles says, like most major German cities Hamburg has a great transport system. The only thing to remember is that the stadium is about a 20-25 min walk from the nearest station, and getting back into town might take a bit longer

Can anyone help me out here? I seem to have left it too late for anywhere really cheap.

Looking for somewhere central, by the Reeperbahn for around 30 or 40 Euros a night

Cheers

There are free shuttle buses from the stadium to the station, or it's a 20 minute walk. Two S-Bahn lines go from station to centre of town, takes about 15 minutes.

I've booked a room for 4 in the marriot for 160 quid a night. So that's only 40 quid each a night, central location and rated best hotel in hamburg on trip advisor, so sounds a bargin to me

Dirk has asked his Hamburg office for a list of hotels near the arena. Will post them here when I have them.

Booked a single private room in a hostel for £30. City centre. Can't complain.

Flying out of Southampton to Hannover - £170

Fast train to Hamburg - £35 return.

Hostel - £30

So not too expensive a trip, wish I could stay longer mind.
