What next if Haye loses a close but competitive fight

If Haye beats Wlad then his obvious next fight would be Vitali.

If Haye loses conclusively to Wlad then his next likely move would be retirement.

However, if Haye loses a narrow (but not totally controversial) points decision to Wlad but the fight is very competitive what then? Do you guys think a rematch with Wlad would be likely or a fight with Vitali could still take place. Or you may think none of the above would happen.

Personally, I think a rematch with Wlad would be unlikely. Wlad would feel that he had proved enough by beating Haye in the first place. However, I do think a fight with Vitali would be a real possibility. Great payday for both, Haye would want to prove he could beat a Klitschko, Vitali would view it as an easy fight for a lot of money and given Haye's competitive showing against Wlad, the fight would still sell very well. Much like Hatton v Pacman did after he lost to Floyd.

I think a match with Vitali could be made, and then if Haye won that a rematch with Wlad. Haye has built a bit of a rod for his own back though, so a loss would be disastrous for his career now. He's sort of put all his eggs in one basket with regards to the Klitschko's.

To me, any 'breath of fresh air' that Haye might once have been disappeared once he kept banging on and on about retirement. I started to think: 'Go on then, retire, get out of the way and let people who want to fight earn the money.' That's a shame because I like David and Adam, but they've done it to themselves, given themselves a sell-by date, and with that approaching my interest can only be only short term.

My worst fear, however, is a scenario whereby Haye and Adam draw us into a will he/won't he retire/come back mindfuck — after two-plus years of will he/won't he fight a Klitschko, that would be too much to take.

im as sure of the following as i could be sure of anything.......this is another tyson-spinks 88 moment.......no not a 90 second hammering......but another heavyweight superfight where one of the protaganists knows they cant win and is in it for one last big payday.........haye before he beat mormeck had been reduced to the same profile of b level hennessey fighters....despite his charisma and style......he looked very shaky against jean marc mormeck.....since than he has pulled the biggest con job or to put it nicer.....the best pr manipulation, best manipulation job to make himself out to be the "false prophet" he is.......it turns out now maciranelli,barret,valuev,ruiz,harrison.......that series of wins looks very unimpressive to those who look at these things properly....its been about style, pr,and marketing over the reality......the reality which is ruiz was shot, harrison and macinelli were never was's,.....valuev was a decent champ but hell a 50 year old evander holyfield had beaten him months before and given haye the template.....barret was a good win but haye is not going to beat a klitchko he knows it himself......he will make a huge payday which he deserves based on how poor the hw division is these days, than he will retire........

Haye's going to knock Wlad out in under 4 rounds. So the next fight will be against Vitali before Haye retires if it can be agreed.

Wlad won't even get close to David, especially not early on. The speed difference and movement from Haye, will cause Wlad all sorts of problems. He's not against Peters here, he's up against a man who is in the best shape possible. A man with determination, speed, power and hunger. Wlad's time has come. You can't stop old father time when you've got a lion ready to go in for the kill...

Although I firmly believe Haye will beat Wlad, the question by th OP needs to be answered.

If Haye lost a competitive fight to Wlad, I can see him definately retiring, He wouldn't continue, to be truthful.

He would have no need to continue and given his repeated claims about retiring, a competitive loss to Wlad gives Haye a nice sense of closure on his career.

However, that scenario, I honestly don't believe, will pan out.

Haye is going to go for Wlad, have alook for a round or 2 but he will be looking to take him out and not let him settle into a nice rhythm.

Wlad will be fighting scared, as he normally does and Haye has far more bottle. He is a genuine fighter.

It's got a lot of tangibles, this fight, so it will be nice if / when they square off in the ring centre, to see who will come out on top.

Thinking about it, what are the chances of Wlad actually landing anything meaningful the way Haye fights? I can't remember if Haye has took a full blown shot yet at HW? :??
