My money is on the dude that battered Foster, Fagatelli or something. Then again I dunno if the WBO want a mandatory yet or not.

Think the mandatory would be ordered around september as its 12 months since he won the title (and burns was mandatory in that fight).

Fana may still be a possibility further down the line since he pulled out of mendez fight (if IBF dont strip him)

I would be very suprised if he wasn't stripped. What was his reasons again, nowhere to train or something? I think Burns would have beat Fana aswell. Who is Rickys mandatory anyway?

His mandatory is Eloy Perez, I wonder if they'll get an offer to take Ricky stateside for that fight as Perez is with Golden Boy.

Some decent guys in the top 10.

I though Foster could have got the shot that would have been a decent match up. Cook's bin out so long does he deserve a shot straight away. Someone a bit better than Layrea shouldnt be hard.

It'll be Cook if he comes through his warm up, though obviously that warm up will in no way qualify him for a world title fight after such a long absence. Cheap and cheerful opponent, if you ask me.

Hopefully Burn's next opponent is a fighter deserving of a top 20 position in independent rankings.

I dont think Kerry Kayes would appreciate you taking the piss out of the Guzman situ.

KK worked his tail off with Guzman and he even wore the CNP logo.

The fact is Guzman failed weight a couple of times previously - and failed a couple more times since. Nowt to do with Lee Beard.

What a load of shit mate its everything to do with the coach everything its his responsability to ensure the fighter makes the weight and do it right.but 9lbs is a joke Guzman ,should have had his licencse suspended for 12 months imo,one fighter but the hard work in to make the weight and one clearly didnt!

Guzman has been a joke with his weight for a while though. He just seems to be a law unto himself

Ah right, has any of Lee Beards fighters come in over weight before or since that or was it just another example of Guzmans disregard for the weights to which he is contracted.

No disrespect Billy but ive done a little research myself on Mendez and his amateur record was outstanding, something like 320 fights and lost about 15 and the footage on youtube of him sparring linares would suggest he knows how to handle himself.

Certainly would be a mouthwatering match up down the line.

You mention Beard was shouting his mouth off to get his fighter a title shot, but correct me if im wrong didnt mendez go to south africa and win an eliminator for the IBF title shot against Fana?

Yourself and Ricky have wanted the fight with Fana, if Mendez beats Fana or gets the vacant title wouldnt you be pushing for a unification bout?

I certainly dont think its an everyday of the week win for Ricky, tbh I think it would be a very big ask.

Mendez would be a tough night for Burns. It's a fight you'd want sooner than later. Also put the fight on in Scotland, get the crowd going. Mendez would never of seen anything like that.
