Taz: What type of a fighter was Joey Durelle, in your opinion? Did you ever see Yvon Durelle wrestle professionally? He was popular in the Maritimes as a wrestler.

Taz: When you were fighting, how many miles of roadwork would you do each day when training for a fight? Some trainers now have their fighters only run sprints and no long runs. What is your view on the best type of roadwork for a fighter to do?

Taz: According to your record, you fought Bert Macintosh only seven days after fighting George Jacobs. How difficult is it to fight a bout so soon after just having fought the previous week? Lots of fighters today don't want to fight any tune ups if they have a fight scheduled. Isn't it important for fighters to stay active as oppossed to just sparring in the gym ?

Taz: Where did your fight with Macintosh take place? Also, I see that you fought on the same card with Marvin Hagler in Brocton, Mass. At that early point in Hagler's career, could you see that he was headed for greatness?

Taz: I am wondering how much amateur experience you had in terms of total amateur bouts.
Also, how do you think the punch of a pro boxer compares to the hand strikes of a karate fighter?

Taz: From your record, I see that you fought Archie Lee four times and Mickey McEachern four times. What is it like to fight the same opponent four times in terms of strategy and knowing your opponent's strenghts and weaknessess?

Taz: Were you a contender when AL Sparks was the champ? How good was Sparks? According to his record, he boxed pro for over 20 years. Did you see him lose the title to Gary Summerhays?

Taz:I saw a tape of your bout against Michael Spinks. I liked your jab. After the first knockdown, you really pressed Spinks. I am wondering if you should have boxed him more rather than try to press him after the knockdown? Did you prefer to box or slug during your career?

Taz: When you fought Spinks, you had a lot of pro bouts under your belt. Could you tell that Spinks was going to go on to greatness when you fought him? How did fighting a man of Spinks' ability compare to fighting pro boxers who were not destined for greatness?
Aside from Spinks, who was the best that you ever fought?

Taz: You mentioned that Leslie Borden is your cousin. It seems to me like Leslie Borden was rushed into fights against top heavyweights before he was ready. Did he take those bouts against guys like Chuvalo, Quarry and Cleveland Williams simply for the money? Those were tough heavyweights for a lightheavyweight to fight.

Taz:How do you feel about fighters weighing in the day before they actually fight? After you weighed in for the Spinks fight, how many pounds were you able to put back on that day before you got in the ring?

Taz:When you came back in 1984, did you fight as a lightheavyweight for those two fights?
Also, years ago, Leslie Borden fought a heavyweight from Spain named Jose Urtain and Urtain won by first round knockout. People said that Leslie Borden took a dive in that fight, is that really true? Lots of Urtain's opponents suppossedly took dives when they went to Europe to fight him.

Taz: If you were in your 20's today, do you think that you would have a shot at fighting for a championship what with so many organizations like WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, WBU, IBO and others?
Also, when you see some of the guys who fight Roy Jones in title fights, how do you compare them to a guy like Gary Summerhays?

Taz: You retired very young, 24, after the Spinks fight. Why did you decide to retire at that age, is it because you went pro so young at 14?
If you could have gotten more amateur fights, would you have turned pro at an older age?

Taz: Is it true that body punches hurt more than head shots? Television announcers say this all the time.
Also, were you the last Maritime lightheavyweight champion or did someone win that title after you retired?

Taz: As far as injuries are concerned, is it common for fighters to suffer broken noses at least once during their careers.
Also, lots of fighters have hand problems-how did you protect your hands when training and fighting?

Taz: In sparring, some fighters have wars and others spar more lightly. When you were training, were sparring sessions very heavy or more suited for training purposes? Some fighters burn out from gym wars more than from actual fights.

Taz: was it Gary Summerhays that was champ when you were a contender for the Canadian Lightheavyweight championship?

If so his record looks pretty good in the database. He went the distance with A LOT of big name guys. Spinks, Johnson, Camal.

He was also one of the longest reigning champions. He beaat Roddy McDonald the first time they fought for the title, but lost the return bout and the title.

You think You would have beaten Gary? Any common opponents (besides SPinks)? Were you still a contender when Roddy was champ? and if so you think he would have been too big for you?

Roddy beat Ken Lakusta and Tony Morrison both of whom went on to be Canadian HEAVYWEIGHT champions! Roddy was also the Canadian cruiserweight champion. I wonder why he never fought for the Canadian Heavyweight title? Especially since two guys he already beat were the champs. the heavyweights are the glamour division, you would think if he thought he could be the heavyweight champion he would have tried.

Taz: Johnny Summerhays was also a good, tough fighter-like his brothers. Would you agree?
Also, do you think the pro boxing will ever get real popular again in the Maritimes? On P.E.I. horse racing draws lots of people and is big competition for boxing. A friend told me that promoters can't make any money on P.E.I.

Taz: You mentioned that you never turned down a bout in your life. What do you think is the reason why some big name pros will turn down hard fights even though the money would be huge? Is it simply a lack of heart or does making big purses simply cause some fighters to grow soft?

Taz: When you were the #1 contender in Canada and unable to get a title shot, did you ever try to get a shot at the British Commonwealth title? As you know, Gary Summerhays went on to win the Commonwealth title. Do Canadian fighters first have to win the Canadian title before getting a shot at the Commonwealth belt?

Was Roddy from the same region as you Taz? Was he a good fighter? He has a KO punch according to this record. He was also pretty big.

Too bad you never fought Summerhays. You just never had the right connections I guess. You seem to have a lot more respect for Summerhays than MacDonald. What is your take on their fights?...

Taz: I always thought that George Chuvalo and Joe Bugner would have been a good fight. Chuvalo never could get a crack at the Commonwealth belt which is odd considereing that his stablemate, Clyde Gray, was Commonwealth champ for years. How do you think that a Chuvalo-Bugner bout would have gone?

Taz: I always liked Bugner and Chuvallo a lot. Had they fought, I think it would have depended on which Bugner showed up. On the night that Bugner lost to Joe Frazier, I don't think that Chuvallo could have beaten him. If Bugner didn't fight up to his best, then I wouild go with Chuvallo in a tough fight.
I would have also liked to have seen Clyde Gray fight Ralph Charles in a Commonwealth title bout. Are any of your fights on tape besides the Spinks bout?
